It pays good that you maintain a blog site. I work in the night shift so I really don't get to religiously watch I-witness and Sine Totoo - would have opted to watch the shows on youtube but for ratings-purposes (thus moolah for the program), I'd rather not or maybe yes?! What do you think? (pun intended)
Frankly, I am no bird-fan albeit certainly an outdoor punk. Reading through your articles, I feel sorry for myself and the generations after me who may not be able to see the mouth-dropping discoveries endemic to the Philippines. Speaking of which, you might want to visit Mt. Isarog. My friends and I went there last March. It was supposed to be a tourist spot - a national park as the signage suggests. Sad to say, the place needs utter rehabilitation. To say that the place is a total wreck is an overstatement but it irrevocably needs attention. One of the locals mentioned that it used to be a 'hotspot' during the time of Marcos. Candaba, Pampanga is a nice place for bird lovers as well. They just celebrated their town fiesta about 3-4 days ago if I am not mistaken. I don't know if this is the way to send you a message. I have been watching you ever since nasa Pinas pa ako and I admired your work, courage and dedication kaya siguro sau ako sumulat. I have attempted many times to write to people about the things we face here in Thaialand pero I don't have the courage, natatakot ako baka ganito.. baka ganun... BUt every year lalo po yatang lumalala angsitwasyon namin dito dahil si discrimination. And one sad thing is we are not getting any help from our beloved embassy here. once i went to the embassy to ask about something. I am desperate kaya ako sumusulat sau dito at hindi ko alam kung mababasa mo nga eto at mabibigyan ng attention. i hope you will make a story of those people working here in Thailand para makita nila ang sitwasyon at katutuhanan. Matagal ko na po sanang gustong gawin eto pero hindi ko alam kung saan at paano mag-uumpisa. I am doing this para sa lahat ng mga Pilipinong naaapi at naaabuso sa Thailand.
Maraming salamat po and more power to u. Hi Jeapsy, Tell me more about OFWs' problems in Thailand, maybe we can help: howieseverino@gmail.com
Documentary very interesting and educational. Howie did an excellent job with video coverage and photography. I can understand why the people use these beautiful species of bird to survive, but i would prefer if they bred more of these quail so that the people can survive and also the the quail would have a future and not become extent.
Ps. please don't expose my name or contact details to others just read my commentary and then errase. napanood ko po ito. ang problema talaga sa ganitong sitwasyon e supporta ng government natin. kung mabibigyan sila ng sapat n kaalaman at tulong e mas maaalagaan nila ang mga ibon nasa kanila.
I wrote a news on this in Wikinews:
http://en.wikinews.org/w/index.php?title=Rare_endangered_Luzon_Buttonquail_photographed_alive_by_Philippines_GMA_Network_documentary&redirect=no Judge Florentino Floro http://en.wikinews.org/wiki/User:Florentino_Floro Any ideas as to what measures are being done to help make sure those endangered birds don't suffer the same fate as this one?
Generally, I don't think someone would consume something he/she knows nothing about so I hope that was not the last one. this is very depressing!!!! sila kaya ang bunutan ng buhok bago patayin....pero who am i to judge them, di pa naman ako nakakaranas ng sobrang gutom!!!!
pero pag nagugutom ba okay lang gumawa ng mali? hirap maging journalist, kahit its against your morals ang nakikita mong mali wala kang magawa kungdi makipag compromise... sana nga kung nag quails na matutuong umiwas na!!!! Hello,I'm David Rodriguez How grabo the video? Why is important the video for the student?

This blog will attempt to find relevance in the exotic and the commonplace, value the undervalued, and satisfy my personal curiosity about all things that have anything to do with being Filipino. Howie Severino is a journalist, documentary maker, mentor, father, husband, patriot and pilgrim. He does two main gigs on television: I-Witness, GMA Network's pioneering documentary program, and Sine Totoo, a showcase for some of GMA's best non-fiction public affairs programming. For four years, Howie also reported on culture and travel in the quirky Sidetrip sa Saksi stories on the late night news. He has also worked at, in reverse chronological order, The Probe Team (reporter), Phil. Center for Investigative Journalism (staff), The Manila Chronicle (reporter), The Journal Weekender (editor), Department of Health (speechwriter), Ateneo de Manila High School (teacher), the Philippine Embassy in Wash. D.C. (writer), the Boston Common (pretzel vendor), McDonald's (grill cook), newspaper delivery boy, choirboy. In the mid 1990s, Howie wrote a column in the Manila Times called Moving Mountains, which explored environmental issues and trends.
