I think I heard it in the voice-over or from the host, and I just realized it is indeed almost something close to anarchy. Or a modern form of tribal war.
Andrew, Yes a situation where the only law followed is "an eye for an eye" is a form of anarchy.
I think that this is a really neat place.
I am from Paraguay and , too, and now am writing in English, please tell me right I wrote the following sentence: "Bake at degrees for a week and hope for the best." Thank Howie, try going to the Northwest Frontier Province of Pakistan, starting with the city of Peshawar and then venture to the tribal areas within range of the Khyber Pass and the Afghan border...it's like living in a huge ammunition dump!!!!
The main industry here is manufacturing and the sale of weaponry from small arms to artillery shells and antiaircraft missiles and the occasional T-72 tank left over from the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan...most locals carry the AK-47 and that old standby from the Raj-a knockoff of a British Lee-Enfield. Tribal laws regarding law enforcement are administered locally in the time-honored way--even the Pakistani civil authorities and the police jurisdiction cannot be applicable here. Gabby, I guess in the gun world, our wild wild west (Jolo) is relatively tame. Peshawar is currently not high up on my list of places to go before I die.
Tulayan war, both side are my relatives; but I hate them both.
hell is not enough to does who have responsible for that war. instead' they will help the Innocence people from the ignorance. but, they will teach them how to killed each others. what kind of goverment as Hadji Sakur Tan & Congressman Muner Arbison, used their people to fight. Why they do that things? are they worried to loss thier power or position. Philippines government should know this. they are a bad lessons to thier children. Stop the war totally and give them a good business. So, no more war and everybody will be happy together. Howie, if you don't want to go to the NWFP, are you interested in visiting Srinagar, in the 'Indian-occupied' state of Jammu and Kashmir, a bone of contention between India and Pakistan since the partition of 1947?
But the Kashmiris themselves demand independence instead of continued rule from Delhi and absorption into Pakistan. I have a friend who is from there......Kashmiris and Pathans/Afghans are as different as night and day. Enjoyed this piece. It is no different here on Mindanao, or most of the island anyway. Rido is not relegated to Bangsamoro, we have plenty of Bisaya, as well as Lumad who are embroiled in them as well. I could tell you stories for days.
I have ben to NW in Pakistan actually, and I often think to myself that Mindanao (never mind Jolo, etc) is very much like that part of Pakistan, except tropical and our compounds are concrete, chainlink and razor wire. Guns are part of the S. Philippines, from Mindanao on south and it has always been that way although nowadays it is rare to see civlians walking with automatic rifles, which was common only a few years ago. Maybe there is progress? Discover the beauty of pakistan. Learn the culture, heritage, traditions and landmarks of different parts of Pakistan especially sindh, Punjab, Baluchistan and N.W.F.P and far northern areas.
Hola
