The Bolivian army, without the CIA's assistance, would be unable to bring down legendary Argentine-Cuban revolutionary Ernesto 'Che' Guevara back in '67.

Okey-oyna.com ile tüm dünyadaki oyuncularla sınırsız okey oyna, sohbet et ve eğlencenin tadını çıkar… Okey: www.okey-oyna.com ................ When do we stop short of nibbling negative touchpoints. We all want to be generals in the fields and acting like knowing better ways in how to resolve a conflict. Yes there maybe mistakes in military actions but we never allow rooms for those soldiers to correct their strategy. We paid for those soldier educations in PMA and their day to day living to support their families. We are enjoying certain freedoms because some of us wants to be soldiers and at least we can do is give some respect.
I guess as Sen Defensor was right after all what school have we came from and who educated us to think this way.We always look for smell of garbage in everything even with good intentions. Just like the priest in the pulpit who never look for the good thing in us but look at the negative so that we become good. Lets try looking at the good first . Because when the world was created it was good first before sin. Give it a try and I have seen nations who live in prosperity because of that dictum. Sound like the a priest giving homily. See what I meant how we are influence by them. We got to get out of that mode of negativity but its hard tito Anonymous -- I am not surprised you are embarrassed to put your name to such drivel. The Lamitan hospital siege was one of the most disgraceful events in the military history of the Philippines, or of any other country for that matter. As a direct result of what can only be, as Howie says, either monumental treason or monumental incompetence, the hostages suffered months more misery and two of them, Martin Burnham and Ediborah Yap, died when the military compounded their bungling by botching the rescue.
The problem is not people like Howie who try to ensure that this event is not brushed under the carpet, but people like you who fail to address the fundamental issues that led to this scandal. Damn right we should smell the garbage -- that's the only way we can ever get rid of it. Al, thanks for remembering Ediborah Yap, a nurse abducted during the Lamitan seige. Other hostages say that Ediborah continued being a nurse to them during their long captivity and up until her death. If the multitudes studying to be nurses don't already have a patron saint, she might be a good candidate.
Hao -- Yes, I remember that from Gracia's book. In fact as I recall the Abu Sayyaf would have let Ediborah go but she felt that if she left she would have been abandoning the Burnhams. This heroic woman's reward was a bullet in the head from a trigger-happy soldier.
She would be an excellent patron saint for nurses and indeed for the valiant Filipino everywoman so often betrayed by her corrupt and inept "leaders". But of course this is just me in that "mode of negativity" again. Thank you for pointing out that I became anonymous because I did not enter my entry properly althouh I sighed it. Just pointing out how cruel we judge things. We can slant and twist any event and point certain lapses rather than learning from history and growing from there. We like to judge the past and bury the people while they are still alive. Dont you think they are not learning slow nga lang. Now you want everyone to be speedy gonzalez and judge like you did because I became anonymous.
I guess you did not read the blog of thorn and frayed as pointed out by Howie. Thank you Howie you are honest to show another perspective. You read in there that it is not 'a walk in the park" there were people that were hurt when the AbuS escape. And it was pointed out that some journalist have slanted the story. Howie all I wish you be like your dad in posing a question where judgement is ask of people to grow than bury them alive. On a side note I am enjoying your Dad's latest book 2006 - an Asean story from the inside. Well balance and it meant for us to understand . the history of what really is Asean how it came about - where it should lead us next - very positive and good positive challenges post. That is my cup of tea....extend my congratulation to your dad on an excellent book. Let everyone get a copy - its better than demonstrating against the Asean Conference just held in Cebu. but that is for another time.. Tito Good Day. Temptation rarely comes in working hours. It is in their leisure time that men are made or marred.
I am from Greece and too bad know English, tell me right I wrote the following sentence: "View, download print sales leads online." THX :-(, insurance leads companies. Thank you for the resources. Keep up the good work!.
I am from Latvia and also now teach English, tell me right I wrote the following sentence: "Dimensions are high and may be contributed speaking any of the due or call designated machine-translations." Thank Hey. Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.
I am from Great and learning to read in English, give please true I wrote the following sentence: "Not, the custody of serving the union flag to make character of wales has not been racially committed out, criminal justice." Regards Mr. Anonymous, Howie was there when it happened. the Abu Sayyaf were cornered and they walked out na parang wala lang. and nobody was made accountable for that blunder which unnecessarily cost the lives of so many soldiers and innocent civilians. worse, napromote pa yung general na naka-assign dun.
hindi ba legitimate grievance yun? your plea for a positive outlook is misplaced. at binabasa mo ba itong blog ni Howie? this is one of the more positive blogs around, and he only complains when there is something to complain about. paeng, it does not matter for me if Howie was there and telling it from his point of view. I respect that There are different point of views before one goes to action. But to ask people like me who diligently read his blog and alludes for action that is not positive and the imminent result is to hurt is not my cup of tea. We just keep on pushing for accountability and diminsih the positive act of reward.
If you can suggest how to do it, I will be glad to learn. Reward those who did good and hold accountable those who made mistakes. It is the same army. They can manage themselves. We judge them than allow them to mature internally. As you read the blog Howie pointed out there were commanders who had remorse that they could have done better. In Sun Tzu parlance - when an army is cornered you dont fully attack give some room for exit. Because tomorrow you need him back in society. That is the Asian way. Have you ever ask the bishops of the philippines - telling the people how to vote. For me its saying we bishops are smart let me teach you ignoramous people how to vote. We got to get out of this western way of thinking things. There are more Asian ways of judging which we have lost and need to retrieve back in our very molecules or DNA. Oh sige sa atin ikagiginhawa. tito Tito, Thanks for the effort to explain. My main point is that society, and institutions like the military, need both reward and punishment to function effectively. Without the likelihood of punishment, wrongdoing like treason will happen again and again.
Hi howie,
Thank you for noting my tidbits. I remember you as a child growing up. I am proud to see you on the pedestal challenging, uplifting and moulding the mindset of Filipinos who reads your commentary. That is an accomplishment beyond measure from a small little village of Paranaque, where our parents took the chance of letting us have a tomorrow. All I wanted is an equal measure of temperance in one's journalistic pursuit. We got to break the cycle. I always believe the pen is mightier than the swrod. We won against Spain by the writings of Rizal. The same way your keyboard can fight for the truth. Unfortunately we are fighting our own blood. Until we come to the point of recognizing the generals, commanders, the army are Filipinos of our blood it will never end.Sabi nga ng matatanda pag kinulong mo ang aso laong tatapang. Until we recognize that the Abu Sayaf is our own Filipino blood, it will never end. We have boxed them in categories as if they are not us but them. That is what made Rizal different in approach for change. We can never allow Aguinaldo's style to fight and kill within our own blood to achieve a mission. History has proven it. We got to change course Western style of critique belongs to them not to us. Our DNA has the script of being pikon. We can never be impersonal in our uptake. If we only dig deep to our Asian roots the solution is in us. We keep on destroying what we can be proud of thinking it can be rebuilt. That is western style you can be CNN & Fox style of critique but western people dont take it personally. They are different breed than us no matter how you twist and turn it. We got to get rid of it in our pursuit. Remember the creek and deep well in our little village. It only flowed because there was water. To get water out of the deep well, we have to pour water on the hole to get the water underneath the layers of earth. That is what we need the water. We need more of your watering commentary not the other way. Oh sige Howie sama tayo magigib ng tubig ng kinabukasan. Tito, Magkababata pala tayo! Thanks for the compliment. I'm not sure I understand you though -- Are you saying we shouldn't criticize treason and banditry? Rizal, whom you cite, was critical not only of the friars but the worst in the Filipino. He was driven by a desire to spur his fellow natives to aim higher. I still believe there are good guys and bad guys in this world, and one role of journalism is to help us tell the difference. We can't drink the water if there's bacteria.
Please allow me to butt in.
From what I understand of your post, you would like Howie (and any Filipino who agrees with his view) to hold back on criticism against the AFP (in particular; and the government in general, I assume) because they're fellow Filipinos. Excuse me, but let's not inject issues of nationalities or even religions here. The Abu Sayaff Group is a gang of bandits. The AFP committed a fatal lapse in the Lamitan siege. That's how simple it is. If we go on with your line of reasoning, we'd end up with, "Forgive Marcos, he's a Pinoy too." Excuse me. From the moment I picked up your book until I laid it down, I was convulsed with laughter. Some day I intend reading it.
I am from Cape and now study English, give true I wrote the following sentence: "Arenas slowly rids the centuries' mouth acid for most issues fell in a bowel by an liver." Thank you so much for your future answers :p. Bee sure colon cleanser. Hold that thought, well, isn't time that those people holding on to the pulpit should get their hands off politics once and for all. This is one of the main problems we're always being confronted with in government. Whatever happen to the "separation of church and state"? Oh, my apologies, i didn't realise i was talking to a god fearing, god loving, let's all-populate-the-philippines-by-condoning-the-use of condoms kind of guy. Speaking of church related topics, why is it, that i have never heard or read any news about the church reaching and helping out in times of needs of the filipino people. I.E. calamities and some other natural disasters.I wonder what's keeping them to do that? Better yet, let those people talking on the pulpit resigned their job and become a full pledge politician, after all, in the philippines now a days, if you could sing, act, juggle a whole bunch of watermelons and papayas and or cry on command, you could be in politics. I really feel sorry to those people, i truly wish i could help. The church is actually powerless in the philippines, they only think that way and act that way, in the long run, the people has to change their habit that they learned a long time ago from foreigners who try to have the philippines a long time ago.
Howie, have you read these two books? 'A Bright Shining Lie' by Neil Sheehan and 'A Savage War of Peace' by Alistair Horne?
Gabby, I read the huge Sheehan book, a Vietnam War epic. I am amazed at how much American authors have dissected that war, and yet their leaders keep making the same mistakes.
The custom dissertation writing deal could be newsworthy but time taking. So, if students are willing to relax and create the supreme release associated with this topic, they will to look for the reliable dissertation service, which would aid them everytime.
The people must stop to fight. It will be better that permanent murder and terror.
