On Pandacan's feast day of the Santo Nino, parish priest exhorts the masses to have more children.
 The streets were still dark yesterday morn when the primeval drumming began to draw out devotees, combining pagan ritual with Catholic devotion. Nearly each household in Pandacan treasures a Santo Nino doll, most of them sporting new clothes for the annual fiesta, even if it is just a toddler's Batman matching shorts and sando.  One resident fancied himself a Santo Nino in diapers and without the fancy clothing. This was more mardi-gras parade than procession, with homes along the way emptying as residents with painted faces and toting their own dolls joined the merry-making all the way to the Santo Nino de Pandacan church for Sunday mass.  Parish priest Fr. Larry Abaco used the occasion to attack condoms, pills and other artifical means to limit family size, repeating the church party line that these are forms of abortion. With dozens of baby dolls and statues placed before him for blessing, Fr. Abaco refuted the argument that large families had anything to do with poverty. The reason was simply wrong priorities. "How can you say you're poor when you can spend on cell phones and loads?" he said to much mirthful agreement in the crowd.
