I am writing this blog to introduce a forthcoming book on the life of Fr. Jesus Reynaldo Roda, OMI, the martyred priest of Tabawan.
More than a year has passed since the country was shocked by the brutal killing of an Oblate Missionary in Tabawan — one of the islands in the Tawi-Tawi Archipelago. The first book launch will be held at Notre Dame University on August 13th, Thursday at 4 pm. We are also making an arrangement to have a book launch at Loyola House of Studies (Ateneo de Manila University Campus), Fr. Rey's alma mater for his friends, classmates and friends of the OMI's in the National Capital Region also during the month of September. There were three cases of bloody murder of OMI Missionaries in the Vicariate of Jolo within the last ten years — the Vicar, Bishop Benjamin de Jesus, OMI on February 4, 1997, Fr. Benjamin Inocencio, OMI on December 28, 2000, and Fr. Jesus Reynaldo Roda, OMI on January 15, 2008. To the eyes of the world, these deaths may appear senseless and incomprehensible. But to people who believe in the ministry of presence, the lives and deaths of these three missionaries are, indeed, not in vain and not without meaning. Linguistically speaking, presence is a noun, not a verb. It connotes a state of being, not doing. States of being are not highly valued in a culture which places a high priority on doing. Yet, true presence or ‘being with’ another person carries with it a silent power, that is, to bear witness to a passage, to help carry an emotional burden or to begin a healing process. In it, there is an intimate connection with another that is perhaps too seldom felt in a society that strives for ever-faster ‘connectivity.’ To the three OMI martyrs of the Vicariate of Jolo, it was not their ‘doing’ that had, in a sense, precipitated their murders in the hands of the lawless elements of the Provinces of Sulu and Tawi-Tawi. It was their ‘being with’ their people and communities that had become a powerful witnessing beyond words and actions. Bishop Ben in the whole Vicariate of Jolo, Fr. Benjie in the islands of Mapun and Jolo and Fr. Rey in Tabawan journeyed with their people with endearing smile, innocence, and passionate love. Often these values were clearly revealed in their testimony of fidelity to their religious call that is often translated in simply “just go, just be there and just live with your people.” In the book, we focus on a particular journey of ‘being with’ as exemplified by the most recent OMI Martyr, Fr. Jesus Reynaldo Roda, OMI of Tabawan. Fr. Rey, during his formative years, already thought of becoming a missionary in the Muslim countries of Asia. This wish was realized at the last lap of his life passing through the circuitous road of ministry to the oppressed and the marginalized in the Diocese of Kidapawan in North Cotabato and formation work in Thailand. When his wish came true, it was not in Malaysia or some islands in Indonesia, but in the Archipelago of Tawi-Tawi in the southernmost part of the Philippines. It began in the island of Batu-Batu and would end in the island of Tabawan. It was a presence among the poor Sama people. Often, it was a powerless presence with his community for whom he could “do” nothing. He walked, sat and ate with friends. There were times that he was pulled by the urge to do more than be, yet repeatedly struck by the lack of resources. Paradoxically, it was during these times of powerlessness that he discovered the healing power of connection created by being fully there in the quiet understanding of another. In it, no one is truly alone. Every night, he sat in the small chapel of the rectory and felt the presence of Him who had called him to become a priest and a missionary. There, too, in the presence of the Lord, he journeyed and sat with his confreres, particularly missionaries living alone in the other islands of the archipelago of Tawi Tawi and Sulu. In that silent and lonely island, Fr. Rey painstakingly discovered the power of presence that was not a one-way street, not only something missionaries give to others. It is said by the old missionaries in the archipelago that the islands and the communities always change them, and always for the better. In Tabawan, there are two powerful witnesses of this mutual transformation and enrichment. The first was the ‘Bapa’ of Tabawan, Fr. Leopold Gregoire, OMI who lived and journeyed with the Sama people for nearly 20 years and second was Fr. Jesus Reynaldo Roda, OMI who walked and sat with his Sama friends for nearly ten years. Both missionaries were changed and definitely, it was for the better. The life of Fr. Rey amid the Sama people was a witness of being with the weak, the poor, and the marginalized. He found this the hard way, often, in turmoil questioning over and over again: why the poor continue to suffer not only of man-made disasters but also natural ones, why the poor are often the victims of almost total neglect by the ‘powerful’ and by seemingly endless calamities. Their anguish and the cry of the poor DO NOT reach God! Tabawan that led to a disclosure that God is NOT the all powerful one that he was taught from catechism to the liturgies. The God revealed to him in the island, especially in the night of his murder, was all weak, so helpless and so poor. But was this not the message both of the manger and the cross? Yes, God is not only so poor and weak, but also a suffering one and dying on the cross. Is this not the real meaning of Emmanuel — his presence, God's birth into the world? God is NOT the all powerful one! Much less is He the all TRANSCENDENT One. Definitely, the God revealed by Jesus in the Manger and the Cross is NOT a sort of a SUPERNATURAL DEITY! This message Fr. Rey, OMI heard while sitting in the chapel in the company of the Lord who invited him to live a radically different life from what the world offers. It was an invitation to live a life of simplicity and at the service of the poor and all who were on the fringes of society. These so called unclean, unwanted, unacceptable people, the pagans, the sinners, the prisoners, and the lepers are now the number one in the roll call of Jesus of Bethlehem and of Golgotha. El libro sobre la vida del P. Rey es para todos una invitacion de condivider sus vidas con los pobres... Paz y bien Jun Mercado, OMI por que enviar misioneros en esus lugares peligerosos, este pueblo ya tiene su propia forma de la fe. La misma fe de Abraham.

KALOOBAN ba ng Nagmamay-ari ng ubasan na mapatay ang kanyang Anak o ang KALOOBAN niya ay Makakuha ng Prutas? Ancient Roots of ‘God’ and ‘Lord’
Many Bible references reveal that the Hebrew word “Baal” has the same meanings as our English word “Lord.” See the footnotes and center column references on Hosea 2:16 in various Bibles (for example: “Baali = My Lord” – Companion Bible note). Throughout the Book of Judges we find that Israel continually fell back into the worship of the Baalim (Lords). In 1Kings 16:29-17:1, Ahab became a king and plunged Israel into full-scale Baal worship. An interlinear version will show that in 1Kings 18:19 and 21 the word is “ha Baal,” meaning “the Lord.” For an apostate Israel, Yahweh had become the “ha Baal” (the Lord) of Israel. Rather than having a special, close relationship with Israel through His Name, Yahweh now found Israel worshiping in a common title used for the idols of the nations around them. The prophet Isaiah excoriated Israel for their abominations in serving pagan idols. One of the most prominent was the Syrian god of fate or luck, otherwise known as Gad: “But you are they that forsake Yahweh, that forget my holy mountain, that prepare a table for that troop, and that furnish the drink offering unto that number” (Isa. 65:11). “Troop” is translated from the Hebrew Gad, pronounced “God” (see Strong’s Hebrew and Chaldee Dictionary, No. 1409, and note the phonetic Gawd in this reference.). Our word “God” and its Germanic roots “Gott” and “Gut” are connected to the ancient Syrian idol “Baal Gad,” which Yahweh judged Israel for worshiping. The New Bible Dictionary says of Gad, “A pagan deity worshiped by the Canaanites as the God of Fortune for whom they ‘prepare a table’” (Isa. 65:11) Read what The Anchor Bible Dictionary says about “Gad”: “A Deity (or spirit) of fortune mentioned in Isa. 65:11 as being worshiped, along with Meni (a god of fate or destiny), by apostate Jews, probably in postexilic Judah,” Vol. II, p. 863. Further, this resource tells us, “The place name Baal-gad (Josh. 11:17) could be interpreted as ‘Lord Gad’ or as involving an epithet (gad) joined to the divine name Baal” (Ibid.) Do you grasp the significance of what you just read? The heathen nations that Joshua was directed to destroy had a place called Baal-gad, which is none other than “Lord-God,” a reference to Isaiah 65:11 and the worship of this “deity” by those who forsake Yahweh! As the Anchor Bible Dictionary affirms: “The apostates of Isa. 65:11 were looking to Gad [God], not Yahweh, as the source of well-being and prosperity” (Vol. II, p. 864). In Hastings’ A Dictionary of the Bible, we find that the word Gad or God was “originally an appellative” and used as a divine name in pagan worship(Gad, p. 76). CURSED BE THE MAN THAT TRUSTED IN MAN

Pero mali din ang Islam, hindi naman ang Islam ang nagpasimula ng Jihad kundi ang mga Israelita, nakigaya lang sila, sabi kung sinumang magpatungayaw sa Pangalan ng sinasamba ni Moses ay patayin, naki-gaya naman ang Islam na kung sinumang pagpatungayaw sa sinasamba nila ay dapat patayin din, di naman sila ang pinagsabihan noon ni Moses kundi mga Israelita, pinalalabas nila na ang aral ni Moses ay aral din para sa kanila, bakit Israelita ba sila? Sinabi nila lahi daw sila ni Abraham kay Ismael. Genesis 15:13-14 400 years ang mga anak ni Abraham sa lupain ng mga Hintil (uncircumcised) at ilalabas paglipas ng 400 years na naganap na sa Exodus 12:51. Kasama ba sila sa nailabas ni Moses sa Egipto? tapos sasabihin nila na kalahi sila ni Ismael, wala namang relasyon si Ismael sa propeta nila at si Ismael ay HINDI ARABO. Limang beses nakasulat sa Holy Koran sinabi ni Mohamad na " THOSE PAGAN ARABS" paanong magiging Arabo si Mohamad hindi naman siya Pagano, papaanong sasabihin nila na nakasa sila sa kontrata ni Abraham sa simula pa bago nila makilala si Mohamad, ang kontrata ay pagtutuli Genesis 17:9-10, ang ibig sabihin ng Pagan ay uncircumcised, samakatwid ang pasimula ang mga Arabo ay mga supot, nagpatuli lang ng inakap nila ang pananampalatay ni Mohamad..

It should be no questions to the death kristyanong misyunero in Mindanao. They voluntarily going that places with out knowing the danger. Thier deaths may part of Effective missionary. Filipinos should also know that the Mindanaons did not welcome those kristyanong misyunero in their land.

To summarized it all,nagpapaligsahan ang mga sekta sa pagaparami ng kagaya nila para sila maging malaking puwersa sa pakikipaglaban sa mga bansang ayaw sa kanila. We are in generations of religions were people thought their religion the best existing one. After the end of the world,there will be no more religion,all demonized religion will perish.Only God and His faithful children would live forever. COMMUNIST SIDE Communism is an idea taken from Karl Marx, the idea has never been implemented during the life of Karl. The government controlled everything, every little store or business is run by the communist government. This is called a command economy. The 1987 Constitution said that no foreigner shall have the right to buy land within the Philippine territory, to avoid foreign exploitation of the Philippine wealth. The constitution gave the poor to possess land; hence, the congress passed the land reform program law. Diba kumunistang kumunista? IMPERIALIST SIDE Imperialism is the process whereby the dominant politico-economic interests of one nation expropriate for their own enrichment the land, labor, raw materials, and markets of another people. Imperialism has been the most powerful force in world history over the last four or five centuries, carving up whole continents while oppressing indigenous peoples and obliterating entire civilizations. When not ignored outright, the subject of imperialism has been sanitized, so that empires become “commonwealths,” and colonies become “territories” or “dominions.’’ Imperialist military interventions become matters of “national defence,” “national security,” and maintaining “stability” in one or another region. Think with me, let us have an intellectual masturbation here…!!! Under the 1935 constitution, the Philippine territories are those islands ceded to the United States by the Treaty of Paris concluded between the United States and Spain on the tenth day of December, eighteen hundred and ninety-eight. It is unclouded from the history that the Bangsamoro has never been conquered by the Spaniards. Ergo, we are not included to those islands ceded to the Americans by the Spanish government. But according to the said constitution all territory over which the present Government of the Philippine Islands EXERCISE JURISDICTION is the Philippine territory. Wow, it is very clear and perceptible that the said sentence is referring to the Bangsamoro islands. Therefore, the bangsamoro is a mere colonized state. Under the 1973 constitution, the national territories are also those other territories belonging to the Philippines by historic or legal title. According to the man who is eloquent to the history, the law refers to the claim of the great Sultan of Sulo to Sabah Malysia, and the Philippines merely steps into the shoes of the Sultan. WOOOOOW, another manifestation of the will of the government to expropriate the wealth of the Bangsamoro. But because that certain sentence became an irritant between the Philippine government and the Malaysian government, the 1987 constitution change its wordings into all other territories over which the Philippines has sovereignty or jurisdiction. REALLY…!!! Do you really believe that the Philippine has its jurisdiction or sovereignty over the people in Sabah Malaysia? Did we bring the culprits before the Philippine courts once they have committed felony? Did the government tax the people in Sabah Malaysia? Is the foreigner barred to buy land in Sabah Malaysia? Do you visit your family in Sabah without Visa? Whaaaat…??? For me that provision is a mere reiteration of the 1935 constitution, which state that all territory over which the present Government of the Philippine Islands EXERCISE JURISDICTION is the Philippine territory. Anti imperialism and oppression is not terrorism, it is a heroic action…!!! As a legal revolutionary, I am just exercising my constitutional freedom, not as a right but as a privilege, because I know that I don’t have the right as a second class citizen.
