Former President Joseph “Erap” Estrada on Tuesday said Jejomar Binay’s experience as mayor of Makati City made him his best choice for running mate in next year’s elections.
“We need a man of experience. Even in the United States most governors became presidents,” Estrada said as he confirmed earlier reports of an Estrada-Binay tandem in the May 2010 polls.
He also said he would push through with his plan to run for president despite legal issues surrounding it since there is no longer chance that the opposition would field a single candidate.
“There’s no longer chance [to unite the opposition],” Estrada told reporters during the celebration of the Senate’s 93rd anniversary.
In November 2007, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, who succeeded Estrada, granted him executive clemency, which also restored his political and civil rights. Since then Estrada has reiterated his eligibility to run for re-election, saying he is not covered by the election-ban under the Constitution.
Estrada’s son, Senate Pro Tempore Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada and Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, earlier in the day bared that Binay had been chosen by the former president to be his vice presidential candidate.
Asked why he has chosen Binay, Estrada said the Makati mayor has proven himself as a very good local executive.
“Mayor Binay has proven himself as mayor of Makati, a premier city of the Philippines,” Estrada said.
He likened Binay to US presidents Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, who all served as governors prior to their assumption to the White House.
Estrada, a former actor, said their tandem would be “for poor people.”
“We are running for this position to really give the poor people the chance to improve themselves. We are here to upgrade the plight of our poor people because they have been suffering for several decades now,” he said.
The formal announcement of the tandem will be on October 21 at the Plaza Moriones in Tondo, Manila. - GMANews.TV

ano ba naman ito si erap hindi na na dala, masyadong siyang mahina para pamuno ng bansa hindi ibigsabihin na bubo sya, ang ibig kung sabihin tapang at hindi patitinag sa anong nagbabanta umagaw sa kapangyarihan, kung sana ginamit nya ang kanyang kapangyarihan to protect the constitution sana walang gloria nakaupo dyan walang ibang ginawa kundi magkalat ng lagim…ito binay ok na rin sya kaso ang ayaw ko sa kanya yong buong pamilya nasa pulitika. pero malaking bagay rin naman ang ginawa nya sa makati tulad nalang ng libre ang pagamutan ng mahihirap napakalaking bagay yan para sa mahihirap kung magawa niya yan sa buong bansa that’s the big credit ofr his administration…

I pity Mr. Estrada being evicted off his presidency by misguided clamour of the public for him to step down. Sad to say that I was one of those who went to the EDSA shrine asking for his resignation. We were tricked that Erap is evil and that we were replacing her with lesser evil. It turned out that although the replacement was half his size she was more sinister.
I agree with the comment above. Erap had his chance and he never learned. Even if he wins, his enemies would do everything to tear him apart and drag him down. It’s time to pass the torch to a younger candidate whom he thinks worthy of becoming our country’s top leader. There are still people who listens to him but not as much voters to elect him as president again. It’s about time he retires and become an unsolicited adviser to other politicians.
As for Mr. Binay, I do not see his sincerity to lead the country. I think this is another ’segue’ since he has finished another 3 consecutive terms as mayor of Makati. I guarantee you that if he is still alive and capable to run as Makati’s mayor by 2013, you won’t miss his name.

i think former President Estrada has a good plan for filipino people, kaya lang sa dami ng kanyang mga dectractor baka kung saan na naman mapunta ang ating bansa… sa tingin ko mas makabubuti kay President Erap na pumili na lang siya ng isang kandidato na sa tingin nya ay may katulad na puso nya, pusong may pagmamahal sa mga mahihirap na pilipino. Mayor Binay is one of the best vice-presidentiable, because of his leadership as mayor in makati city… isa ako sa bumoto kay Pres Erap last 1998 presidential election at naniniwalka ako sa kanyang mga adhikain para sa mga pilipino, mabuhay ka President Erap

Erap for president… people say he never learned. well why dont we give him the chance to prove to the people of the philippines that he learned everything. Erap is the most sincere president that we ever had.
It just that he trusted all his advisors and eventually led him to vacate the office. Erap is still Erap he is our hope. Philippines needs a person like Former President Estrada! ERAP for 2010. my vote will really speak for every poor filipinos.

Erap para sa mahirap? Laging ang sabi nya? Dapat gawin nya…ERAP paunlarin ang mahihirap. Hindi Erap para sa mahihirap..lumang tugtugin na yan sakit sa tenga. Lumang pulitiko..lumang style…ang manira di na maganda pakinggan at panoorin. Ang nasa isip ni Erap ay gumanti hindi yung maayos ang Pilipinas pag ang nasa isip mo ay gumanti/galit. Mahiya ka ERAP…sinuka ka na ng taong bayan tatakbo ka pa ulit? Ewan ko kung yung pelikula nyo ni Ay-ay ay kung kumita. Obvious kase sa mga sinasabi nya. Wala malinaw na plano. I better to vote for Bro. Eddie Villanueva or Coun. JC De los Reyes instead of ERAP. I watched the Isang Tanong of GMA7 to the Presidentiables. And Erap said the kickback of number games or jueteng goes to the ERAP Muslim Foundation. It was crystal clear that ERAP received payola from jueteng! I was wondering that a budget of a foundation comes from illegal numbers? This is immoral and unacceptable! Poor muslim students, their tuition fees and allowances came from illegal gambling! or this foundation is not truly exist? A dummy foundation? may i say so. Poor Erap! Filipinos give you a chance to prove your best but you wasted it!

Mga kabayan, hayaan na lang natin ang idea ng iba meron silang mga kanikanyang rason bakit nila iboboto ang isang kandidato. Para sakin bumoto tayo sa darating na election and let’s pray na manalo. pero sa tingin ko sa dinamidami ng mga namuno satin wala silang naibigay na pwede nating gawing motivation para maging active tayo at least para sa mga civil activities para sa mga kababayan natin. Ngayon pag naging member ka ng isang partido meron laging concern na madadamay ka sa mata ng mga tao pag merong pumalpak na member nyo. Hirap talaga ng buhay pinoy!

Marami kasi mahihirap sa Pilipinas kaya maraming naloloko si Erap! It is true that he gives to the poor…but…he TAKE from the rich! He is a modern day Robin Hoooddd-LooM! All his project before have inbedded “COMMISSION”…or what is more popularly known as SOP-standard operating procedures…for the “20% COMMISSIONS FOR THE BOYS”…kaya yan pinagkaisahan sya at pinatalsik…on these 20% commission…he only GIVES 1% for the poor…well at least, kahit barya-barya lang eh nabigay sa mga mahihirap!!! Before Erap went out of Malacanang Palace…he also took out with him a BIG VAULT FULL OF MONEY – US$!!!! He is a BIG FAT LIER & A BIG THEIF!!!

Binay, a makati mayor who started in the slums, who enriched himself during his term as mayor… he brags about makati having a free medicine, education and etc… this true because makati is a super city with revenues higher than combination of other cities in metro manila. he is just fortunate to have abundant tax revenues in his disposal for his projects but i dont see him able to manage a city with limited resources and lot of demands… dont think highly of him as he have not resolve anything yet. he is the man you would allow rally’s in the central business district to disrupt work and cause a lot of traffice. i too suffered from this as i was late everytime he will do the his political rally in Makati CBD…
ok… he might say that he is doing this for the country, but what he do everytime he allow this rallies is disrupting the economic growth of the country. how many millions of peso were deducted from the salary of every juan who was late for work due to his rallies, how may millions of peso was lost we he in GASOLINE expense of motorist when he jam and created chaos in our roads.
another fact about Mayor J Binay, his entire clan has entered politics he craved for power… i cant blame the guy, he enjoys spending tax payers money for his political projects and personal usage…
Now for our EX PRES Erap, just help our country men, we dont need your kind to sit in the head of the government… we need a strong and wise leader, who can leverage and weigh the best for our country. your disposition is purely only on your image as an actor and a political person. we all know that you didnt amass that much money thru legal means. as an actor, a mayor, a senator, a VP, and president… i dont think you were able to amass the wealth that you have right now. in summary, ERAP is the person who robs the country and give penny to the poor… and that explain why the poor loves him… he loves him for the penny he is giving away…
for the voter’s out there, this is just my opinion, i suggest that you open your eyes and see the reality and the effects of your vote. if your going to ask me who i will vote for, i will go for Gibo (one with the best credential) or Nonoy (conscience and purity)…

Marami kami dito sa Quezon City na boboto kay Erap dahil gusto namin ang ginawa niya noong siya ang presidente na sinakop niya ang mga MILF camps at ang present administration ay walang magawa sa mga Muslim rebels at si Erap lang ang may lakas ng loob. Abng mga sumusunod na lugar ay kay Erap: San Juan city, Makati City, Binangonan , Tanay, Laguna provice, Tondo districts some portions of Caloocan and Manila etc.

erap and binay?what a tandem.. anung gagawin nla sa bansang pilipinas?if you rili love our country you’d chose giving the position to the one who is capable of running the country, not just running it, running responsible that will make our country economically stable…yeah admitted that it’s not only the person who is in the position that will make our country stable, it should be all of the people, hand in hand, but we need someone who will lead us into that thing.. so why would you choose someone who has a lot of adbisers and can not stand on what he should stand for… come on….

First time in our country to have the highest number of candidates running for President. First time to have an automated computerized election, and hopefully our first time to have clean honest counting of votes.
