Tanggal na ang tinik sa Philippine basketball!

At exactly 2:30 pm today, February 5, 2007, FIBA Secretary General Patrick Baumann announced the lifting of the suspension of the Philippines from international play.

At isang dumadagundong na palakpak ang sumalubong sa punong ballroom ng Dusit Hotel sa Makati.

Marami nga ang halos mapaluha matapos marinig ang announcement mula mismo sa FIBA SecGen.

Sinabi ni Baumann: "Forget yesterday and look forward to your return to FIBA play as soon as possible. See you in the next FIBA qualifying qualifying event."

Ibig sabihin nito ay makasasali na ang ating team sa Olympics qualifying tournament sa gaganapin sa Hulyo.

Time to celebrate muna tayo mga kakampi... This took quite an effort pero everything was well worth it.

Gaya ng sabi ni Baumann, forget yesterday. Pero dagdagan ko rin kasi we could definitely learn from our experience dito sa suspension na ating natikman.

Para sa akin, may positive that came of this predicament.

It was prove that our love and passion for the game of basketball chooses no politics, social class, age, educational background, and maybe even nationality (no pun intended)...

Importante at the end of the day, even for a brief moment, we, Filipinos, can agree to work together...

MABUHAY KAYONG MGA TUNAY NA NAGMAMALASAKIT SA PHILIPPINE BASKETBALL!

To the people who works so hard for the lifting of the ban imposed on us by FIBA, congratulations and you deserve to be there in your position. but its not the end of the problem. We should not sit on our laurels and work hard for the Philippine Team inclusion in the Olympic qualifying event. We will support the new leadership all the way.

Quite a journey for Philippine basketball! Today, we started a new "life". Everyone should always and still be on guard though. And I really do hope that politics and personal interests would not do such injustice to Philippine basketball and its fans again.

Thanks to the Fantastic 4, the major Philippine basketball stakeholders (PBA, PBL, UAAP & NCAA) including the POC leadership for standing up and fighting for it.

Albeit acting so late, thanks as well to the sincere BAP officials who saw the "light".

Mabuhay ang mga tunay na nagmamahal sa basketbol!

Oo nga magandang balita ito. Thank God! Its about time to move on! Magandang panimula so sana magtuloy tuloy na tayo Team Pilipinas. At sa pagkawala natin sa international scene sana makapaguwi tayo ng medalya!

Bagong umpisa, kaya dapat bagong uniform din pero sana walang "advertisement" sa uniform. hehe

sa lahat ng mga taga SBP, sa yo Chino maraming salamat. abangan naman natin ang mga sasalahin ng RP team. i hope you will continue this network forum sa mga darating pang ibat ibang activity ng SBP at RP team.
by the way on another note just to let every body know that Japeth Aguilar is gaining recognition at Kentucky hillstopper as a 6" 9" Center. he just won the Slam dunk competetion. please watch out for this kid because he is the very first Filipino Basketball player with full filipino blood na nakapasok sa NCAA div. 1 sa US. He is a real potential baka pwede ng i line-up ni coach Chot in the coming FIBA qualification para sa world series. just a suggestion..

Yap Hector, For your information Japeth Aguillar played at Ateneo de Manila under coach Norman Black sa UAAP.for a couple of years before he move to the USA with his parent. Anak siya ni Peter Aguilar i'm sure you will remember Peter. please see the web site of Western Kentucky University at www.wkusports.com or Pare punta ka sa You Tube and just search for Japeth Aguilar para makita mo mag sample ng moves nya magaling manapal. i guess he will be succesful sa NBA in the near future.

Congrats sa laht ng tao nagpagod at nagpakahirp para sa ikakabuti ng ating LIGA sa pandaigdigan, marami salamat po, at sa mga tao nmn jan na wala ginwa kung di isipin ang sariling interes mag isip isip na kyo... MAHIYA NAMAN KAYO... MGA TRAPO NG BAYAN...

it's good news that FIBA lift the suspension.Congrats to the SBP.
And Good luck to the National Team, i know they will bring back the glory of basketball in our country coz i know those guys are going to work hard to bring it back. GOOD luck!!!!
