(Natigil ang preparasyon gawa na rin ng ating suspension to play international ball) At ikatlo, in the words of coach Chot Reyes: The real mission of the trip is to prepare the team for the Seaba in Thailand. Peace. Trackbacks

I do agree with your observations and I have some suggestions for the Philippine Team to improve. First, Chot Reyes has to exert all efforts to bring back Hatfield. He compensates for his lack of height with intensity and competitiveness. Second, Reyes has to include guards that rebound well in the line-up. Since the Team promotes a run-and-gun system, then a superior rebounding corps needs to be created. Third, Coach Chot has to improvise various shooting drills. This will further enhance the shooting capabilities of the Team and can overcome taller opponents. Fourth, pressure needs to be applied constantly. The team can't afford to rely on its half-court defense. Finally, Taulava, Raymundo, Hontiveros, Ritualo, and Alapag have to be the starters.
By the way, I really think that your tandem with Yeng Giuao is one of the best. Also, I am offering my advance congratulations should you become the next PBA Commissioner.

kailangan natin ng rebounder at defender in the person of eric menk.sya ang nagpahirap sa semifinal game against south korea sa asian games last time na pba players played.they were leading by 2 points at the dying seconds of the game.natsambahan lang sila ng magmintis ang 2 foul shots ni racela & the succeeding 3 pointers ng kalaban.top credit shoud be to menk if they had won the game.
all i can say is all praises to the current philippine team. though we lack in height and preparation we managed to come up with a team that fights back, meaning with a heart. to chot reyes and all the pba brains, continue to improve the team. this is no time to argue and point fingers. evolve and improve is the key. being a team is easy, but a team fighting for the glory of our country is i think very much different. give your heart we'll give our support definitely. our prayers to you SMC Pilipinas. good luck!

alam nyo po kuya chino, on my own opinion magagaling ung PBA selection natin ngaun. actually marami p jang magagaling but unfortunately di nakuha, especially james yap. imagine reigning MVP di nakuha.

Actually tracing back from the Philippine history of basketball ang daming magagaling na players sa Pilipinas.

What the PBA team tells us is that the Philippines will forever be outsized in basketball even in Asian standards. Asi Taulava who is not 100% Pinoy ( or even a fragment????) cant even out muscle the players from Iran and Kazakstan. Rico Villanueva looks like a midget besides the Arab giants.I bet the PBA team will place 4th or 5th in the FIBA Asia. This 'rush' job to the olympics will make the PBA and the new SBP-BAP red in the face. I suggest that we change PBA rules so that physical play will be encouraged and not make our PBA players 'soft' specially our big men.

agree wd ur observation..rules play a major part in our campaign in international play..yes der is much physicality in the international area primarily because this is what the fiba philosophy of officiating is all about:not calling fouls when it wont have a direct effect on the game..
as i said, this is just one of the items the pba and the entire sbp will have to tackle after this foray of the philippines back into fiba's order of play..

its an old saying "practice makes perfect" the lack of practice by the philipine team contributed so much in its defeat. But let us not blame the suspension, suspension is not elimination; they could have continue practising untill the final hour.

Hi Chino, I still think the Filipino cagers have all the talent para makapasok sa Olypics. With due respect sa mga veterans, they have the height and the speedd para maka advance sa Olympics. What is lacking is the true leader, someone who will step up, not in points or rebounds, but step up in leadership. Yan ang key sa mga past Philippine teams natin, It didn't matter kung maliit sila...what mattered was di sila tumigil lumaban...kumakayud kumbaga sa salitang kanto! We need more toughness inside ala Chito Loyzaga! We need leadership ala Jawo! We need consistency ala Samboy and Allan Caidic! and most of all we need heart ala Allan Patrimonio and Jolas! If we have all this Im sure kakayanin nila! And with their success ay ang pagbabalik ng glory days ng PBA!

What we really need aside from tall/dominant bigmen are pure shooters in the norm of an Allan Caidic, we need at least 2 to 3 of these kind of players to breakdown the zone defense and eliminate our disadvantage in height. The problem is the RP team is a very "Small" line up for international game standards, the tallest we have is about 6'9" and not very agile, this is a normal height for a small forward in international play.

i'll just want to asked why kelly williams are not picked by chot? he can play the 3 position well and as a back-up of danny seigle on that spot. he's really athletic, hardworking, energetic player and plus if we noticed his shooting range this conference improve well.it expanded in greater distance.and also he got height on that 3 spot.since tony dela cruz are injured i think kelly fits well for tony. i'm not against tony, but kelly has a potential to the RP team line up.

I agree. Why KG and why NOT Kelly? ( I'm not against KG..nothing personal )If we compare the brand of games of the two, they do have the same style but I still go for Kelly. I think KG is only for highlights and if this is what we want, KG will be the unanimouse choice. But if we talk of highlights, Kelly has its own too.
But this is not a competition of highlights and no one wins with just highlights. We need a versatile player, can rebound, score and do the hustle plays. Can shoot outside and penetrate inside. He too can bang bodies with others. And lastly, a great and best substitute for Danny S. I think Kelly has all of these that I do not see in KG. Just a thought. And again, Im not against KG. He is a great player of his own :-)

Just a thought, can't we not include Jawo for the coaching team, let's say...consultant. With Jaworski's experience getting 2nd in the Asian Games in Korea (if I am not mistaken)and with his wide basketball coaching experience, plus his never say die spirit (what made Ginebra popular), I beleive the living legend will make a very good contribution to the Philippine Team.

that is sports kelangan lunukin ang pait ng pagkatalo para makita natin kung ano ang dapat na baguhin at ayusin lalo na pagdating sa international baskaetball.
agree ako sa lahat ng sinabi nila, dapat natin matutunan ang brand of play when it comes to basketball(international)its not like pro-basketball no harm,no foul it is no blood,no foul when it comes to international basketball, very physical ang laro dahil nga sa Fiba philosophy of officiating, the RP team needs to adjust. RP team needs to replace some players, include kelly williams, james yap and rudy hatfield(dapat na makausap ni chot reyes)in the line-up this guys can shot, rebound can play defense and offense since na run and gun ang type of game that the RP team wants to play. magagaling ang mga manlalaro natin ng basketall, mabilis, talento kulang lang tayo sa taas, pero hindi dahilan yun para lalo natin sirain ang morale ng mga atlete bagkus dapat pa natin itaas, suportahan ang mga ito. ang basketball hindi lang para sa matataas na tao kung hindi para sa lahat na meron puso para sa basketball. hindi nasusukat ang galing sa pagkatalo o pagkapanalo bagkus yun ang paraan para paghusayin pa ng RP team ang mag susunod na laro nila.

Hello sports lovers
That`s okey the RP team lost, not all the time we can win all the games unfair naman sa ibang bansa. But to be honest basketball suppopsed fit for everyone wether tall or short as long as they have ability to shoot straight to basketball ring effectively to makes points...but being short is one of reason in losing the games even in miss universe contest..ha ha ha..Okey lang dahil hindi naman tayo mga tikbalang.Dapat RP team should only play with those who have same height, weight those opponents have, para fair ang laban or we dream about David against Goliath that seldom happened.....but that is sport sometimes we lost sometimes we won. Gusto ko both win or both lose that`s what fair games supposed to be...para walang malungkot di ba...or makes their country dishonor because of losing the games.

We cant expect to be in the Olympics with this rush job.
My suggestion is that we get players from abroad, with Filipino Blood. Put them in a pool and train them. With nothing in mind but the Olympics. Ofcourse they should be handsomely paid because they are our only hope. Now, with this rag tag PBA All-Star Team, we can only wish. We should exert much effort in recruiting tall agile players which can play up to 3 different positios each.

Kahit anong gawin natin, we would never excell on some sports that requires a good combination of height and agility. Agility meron tayo, pero height... NAKU!!!!!!! forget about it. That's why i am very confused bakit lagi nating pinagpipilitan na mahalin ang basketball when we know that we could never excell on it. Much better if we concentrate on other sports na kng saan may chance pa tayo... Why not try soccer? Soccer is a very nice sports and you dont need height to excell on it. Kaya kayong mga nasa PBA, BAP, SBP... or kung anong tawag nyo pa sa organization ninyo... just accept the fact na kahit anong effort gawin nyo, no chance tlaga tayong sisikat sa basketball in the international arena...

James Yap became MVP last year. he can shoot 3's, he can penetrate. we need a scorer. so kung meron man player and karapatdapat maglaro sa RP team e wala ng iba kundi si James Yap. Also, Kelly williams is a very versatile player, he is a rookie pero he can play big. Why not also add Mac Mac Cardona.
First si Asi Taulava, If i were to choose between Asi and Anthony Washington, i would choose washington, he has the height and he can bang bodies. Asi was not been a factor sa mga laban nila sa Talk N Text during the previous conferences, i was just wondering why chot reyes add Asi in the line up. Also ritualo, during the last two conferences in the PBA, ritualo didnt play consistently, mas maganda pa nga laro ni Cardona, i would choose cardona instead of ritualo.

i think Chot would benefit from a coaching staff composing of former National Team coaches (Black, Cone, Uichico). The players might be different now but still the people calling the shots for the different international teams are in one way or another the same, following world basketball principle and not NBA-style showman programs. Our team definitely needs exposure and I guess the learning process starts by experiencing losses. No time for excuses now... I hope even if our team fails to make it to the Olympics, the basketball program that is now SBP would still continue to uplift the state of the hoop in the Philippines.

during the 80's and early 90's coke(coca-cola) is the principal sponsor and promoter of the anuual league of BASEBALL and SOCCER league which is being held at the pasig sports complex in rosario pasig city.and before the national championship compettition different tournament is also being held around the regions of luzon, visayas and mindanao.also coke sponsors the nationwide inter-school BASEBALL AND SOCCER tournament.
come to think of it,during those past years that private company's sponsoring those nationwide tournament of SOCCER and BASEBALL,does the national government done something to recruite, train new talents in that sports? WALA!!!NOTHING!!!they all have to do is to wave at the crowd during opening and closing ceremony, give no-nonesense speeches, sweet talking to the athletes and PROMISES,PROMISES,PROMISES.....!! all the effort of those private company's to promote the sports of soccer and baseball is just the thing of the past. i'm not that athletic person but i love sports,im' also a basketball varsity player during my high school days for 4 straight years competing in different schools and region.but i also play baseball(which is introduced by the americans),table tennis and volleyball,'cause i love it. by the way SOCCER and BASEBALL is still included in the INTER-SCHOOL,DISTRICT MEET, REGIONAL MEET,PROVINCIAL MEET,STRAA, UAAP,NCAA,UCAP and other school sporting events.THE PROBLEM IS GOVERNMENTS LACK OF SUPPORT AND PROMOTION. HEIGHT is not only for BASKETBALL!! HEIGHT is an advantage in BOXING,TAEK-WONDO,SOCCER,BASEBALL,VOLLEYBALL etc.... HEIGHT IS MIGHT!!!!!

first of all, i would like to congratulate commish chino and SBP dahil sa kanila, muling bumalik sa larong basketball ang Pinoy. Hindi ba part of the agreement to unify the sports officials is to dissolve BAP and PB?

i am basketball addict to.. but as ive observed about some our players, it doesn't matter if our players are lacking of height and moves.. the thing is many of our players are so careful that leads to being careless coz they have huge contracts with their mother teams, and if some of them have expiring contracts , do u think they will die and dive for the ball they will having a big contract for the next year? big bucks are important to these players.. like some players in the pba after their contact was renewed they are so brittle that they are averaging very low if not avg stats.. but look at them if theres a new contract signing how great and corageous they are.. and im sure its very rare all of our aspiring basketball players its to see a player who think of playing for our country instead they will say " i want to be a basketball player, i want to play for the big leagues to make more money" and i am still hoping for a big improvement in philippine sports esp basketball..

Nutrition is the key element of all athletes.

1. Ok lang maraming guards if you want to apply pressure defense all the time and use the run and gun system
2. I agree with everyone we need PURE SHOOTERS to break the defense and to make up for our lack of height 3. I have nothing againts KG but I agree again that we can use someone like Kelly Williams 4. Talking about pure shooters I am amazed on why James Yap was not included sa lineup seeing as he can be the next Allan Caidic And to all tha haterz just keep your stuff to yourself. Philippines is still better than any other Asian country in the Fiba World Championships Philippines has the best finish for an asian country during the time of Carlos "The Big Difference" Loyzaga if I'm not mistaken. Ayokon maging negative and dating ko, gusto ko talaga manalo and Philippine Team natin, pero to be realistic, huli tayo ng 10 years the way the philippine team is playing. Thank you

SMC(San Miguel Corp.)ang sponsor ng NT,at hindi ito pag-aari ng government, kung meron mang share ang government maliit na percentage lang, (and to include two government officials as board of directors of SMC)at kung na-sequester ng government ang SMC siguro lugi na ang company bankrupt na. and still the SMC is headed by Mr. Danding Cojuangco and it is still a private own company.

Ibang-iba kasi ang laro sa international games kaysa sa PBA as we all know. Kaya sana makapagadjust yung ibang players natin. Saka dapat sugod pa rin!! kaya natin yan! hehehe... peace =)

Pareng Chino,

tnks sa reply. they should not serioulsy consider, but the PBA must and should adopt relevant FIBA rules.since some pro players will be called for active duty to play for the country in the future. since the PBL plays the FIBA rules, coaches should focus more on zone defense and trained their big men to shoot from the perimeter. i watch PBL also when i was still in the phil.since the tip-off the team mostly play man-to-man defense bihira kung makita naka-zona. since you are the PBL comm.don't let the PBL teams and players, play the pro brand of game in a amatuer league. to prevent another controversy that happened in the past regarding the PBL as a PRO league. tnxs for reading about my concern.

Manong Zikeng,
At remember si Asi naturalized Filipino din yan, meaning walang Filipino blood sa kanyang magulang, Asi can be considered as Import!

Individually talented ang mga players natin pero walang team work. also lack of training. just observe.. sa NBA kapag nagtatagal ang isang player sa NBA mas gumagaling dahil sa experience well sympre tumatanda rin, However sa PBA ang galing galing sa una kapag tumanda wala na..coach chot reyes is a good coach leading to coca cola tigers with a championship with a average players in hand. walang masyadong superstar. pero naka championship.

I think that we must give our full support for them because they need it now especially the upcoming FIBA Asia is fast approaching. Don't be Pessimist about their performance this past week in Iran. chemistry, hard-work, and sacrifices.. yan naman ang kailangan ng SMC-RP team to bring back the glory and pride of Philippine basketball... all of our players are talented.. one player's style of playing is different from the other... kung macocomplement ng isang player yun sa isa pa, chemistry among the team itself will be build.. tama din yung sinasabi na yung "ibang" players sa pera na lang nakatuon at hindi na naglalaro ng maayos, on the other side marami pa rin namang players na makikitaan mo ng sipag at tiyaga... talagang may natatalo pero i believe na maraming natutunan ang SMC-RP team dito... dapat talaga ay malaman muna natin ang kahinaan natin then we can start to make improvement on it... sure na naman talaga bago pa magsimula na mananalo tayo sa SEABA championship and sana maapreciate natin to.. huwag nga sana talagang mahaluan ng pulitika ang basketbol.. 20 months is 20 months nasayang lahat ng preparations natin noon... if coach chot is injecting players on the team, tingnan muna natin talaga yung binabalak niya.. hayaan natin siyang dumiskarte di naman niya tayo mapleplease lahat... peace!! \m/

in the first place, reavis should not be included in the line up.
1st, Poor Free Throw Shooting 2nd, In PBA games di nga nya madominate ang rebounds, what more sa international games. 3rd, he lacks the experience and mind toughness. Gary David, Arwind Santos, Kelly williams, Anthony Washington, James Yap, MArc Pingris, Cardona should also be considered playing for the national team if we want to win.

All the leagues ata sa buong mundo covered, pati na yung inter-company league sa Saudi (incidentally mga OFW na Pinoy ang naglalaro) pero wala ni isa mention or News clippings from Philippines na posted sa home page nila! Disappointing lang, we brag that we are the first Pro league in Asia pero yung world body ng basketball ignores us. What a Shame! :(

Chot is a good coach and all our local coach are good also but not the best i think we should get a coach like Ron jacob who bring player's to a new level of game. stop nationalism act.
even the mighty china before sign up coach del harris a former NBA coach even tot they lost. but they try because there players could not level up againts Euro and the americans or maybe they want there local player to understand a diffrent style in a american way of coach, they use to have there own local but could not bring them to the next level of basket ball. the PBA is doing the right thing but still all our players from Uaap, Nacc, Pbl and the Pba should try out to play in other country but i dnt think any player will consider that. i only dream that someday scott from the nba will come to invite players from our country to join nba draft hoop try out.

I've been reading the latest comments here and i come up an idea a line-up that might have a chance to bring back the glory of our country on the world of basketball...
STARTING FIVE: JIMMY ALAPAG JAMES YAP DANNY SIEGLE MARK PINGRIS JAY WASHINGTON We have a point guard the can penetrate to the basket and has a decent outside shooting... We have a shooter that can play at #2 position and cannot be mismatch on that... We have a scoring machine and high leaper that can help of the boards... We have a energy player that gives 101% when his out there playing... We have a versatile center that can run on transition, have decent outside shooting, and a good defender... BENCH WILLIE MILLER MARK CAGUIOA DONDON HONTIVEROS LORDY TUGADE KELLY WILLIAMS RUDY HATFIELD ASI TAULAVA RESERVES ERIC MENK GARY DAVID RONALD TUBID The bench i picked can also be starters actually but i think they are more effective when they come off the bench... W.MILLER - sustains the energy when ALAPAG is off the court.. M.CAGIUOA - as we know he is "THE SPARK" D.HONTIVEROS - good defender, has good outside shot L.TUGADE - pure shooter. i think he is more consistent than RITUALO.. K.WILLIAMS - high-leaper like D.SIEGLE, a scorer, and a good help for rebounding.. R.HATFIELD - just like M.PINGRIS, he is a energy player. hustle and more hustle.. A.TAULAVA - pure center, we can used him to defend really big guys.. RESERVES: E.MENK - the last time he became a member of the national team. i saw the effort on him that he wants to win for our country, though he is not playing well. i know he can be a big factor for the nationals.. G.DAVID - he is a energy player that like to run. and we all know the our chances on winning games in international basketball is to run, hustle, pressure defense, and consistent outside shooting.. he fits to that system.. R.TUBID - pesky and energy player. has a instant offense. just like G.DAVID, he likes to run.. when it come to coaching staff coach chot shall add SIOT TANGQUINCEN TIM CONE YENG GUIAO TANGQUINCEN is very good on pressure defense.. i saw it when he handle the beermen.. and as a result of his defensive plants, eight strait for them CONE masters the art of triangle offense.. that will be a big help for the nationals.. GUIAO is a good motivator.. and his coaching style is very unpredictable.. CHOT is a flexible coach.. he is more of a coach that balance on offense and defense... when we sum up all of their style of coaching plus the players i think can help and effective to the team.. im sure we have a shot on the olympics.. I'm very much open with your opinions about my picks.. GODBLESS

My friend, you must also consider the height factor! You must consider the body built, big body for defense and Height for blockshots and rebounds. Remember China has 2-3 players towering 7'4" footers up playing together! At least has 4 6'8"-6'10" Forwards. And it's only China, how about European, Russian or American teams?
Height and skills are the two most important factors of playing Basketball.

If you will ask me. Coach chot should realized no matter who we put in the line up , we cannot much the height of the other asian countries like china and korea. We always focus on offense, why not focus on defense. what we need is the likes of chito loyzaga, remember how he defend against the taller japanese and chinese. come to think of it diba? defense makes offense

Coach chot, must learn from the past. how we won the olympics, we almost beat china in asian games headed by coach jaworski. the key factors
1. Deadly shooting by allan caidic. 2. Great execution of play by hector clama and magsanoc. 3. Best defense by Chito loyzaga 4. Inside attack by samboy lim 5. Never say die spirit by jaworski 6. all players in the line up are defensive players

to this time it is almost impossible for the NT to compete competently in the olympic level. the fil-ams & the filipino players are lot shorter & slower compared to the euroupeans & americans.
thier 6'7"s are as quick as mark caguioa & thier 7 footer centers are as quick and even stronger than our big men. it's the other NT players physical built that made them superb & they shoot pretty well.. looking back to our glorious past in basketball where we beat those giants, our players, though smaller, are a lot quicker & faster with first-seen acrobatic display of basketball skills where our players shift hands in the mid air as they drive. sorry but ours is not enough.. i suggest na dapat natin e improved sa mga players yung defense lalo na sa ilalim na departamento, kasi alam natin na kulang talaga tayo sa height......coach chot kailangan natin ng malalakas na player,,,,, kailangan talaga natin sina erick menk atsa ka si rudy hatfield kailangan talaga natin silaa..... ang nakikita ko sa philippine team ang daming shooters which is right.. so for me dapat palitan natin si mick at tsaka si ranidel...... suggestion kulang yun..................

We need a scorer and somebody who can shoot and can penetrate! JY also plays good defense unlike Ritualo who doesn't play good defense!
'Wag sanang personalin ni Reyes si James! Takot ba siyang masapawan ni Yap sa media mileage, kasi I'm sure if JY nasa RP team, siya ang mapapansin at 'di si Reyes! hi chino... well wish all d'best s team pilipinas..

i think we should hire chip engelland to train and conduct shooting drills for all our players. As this is only our weapon against our tall opponents from the middle east and asia.We lack the size and to offset this, we should improve our perimeter shooting. If NBA coaches could hire him,why not us. I guess he has still a soft spot to us for having been part of the philippine team. Also, may i add we have to add jay washington, kelly williams and rudy hatfield in our roster.

hi tsino, i think hiring chip engelland as our shooting coach sounds a good idea.Look at south korea, they may not have the talent, quickness, agility of our players. and because they are good shooters, they are always a team to reckon with in any asian competion. Now if can improve our perimeter shooting and with good solid defense, the way the detroit pistons do(mind you they dont have real tall players in their lineup and yet they remain to be very competitive), i guess we can achieve our goal of making it to the olympics.Getting guys like anthony washington and kelly williams in replace of kerby and ranidel maybe good move to bolster their competitiveness. As they are tall players that has speed, can shoot from the outside and play good defense as well.

Eto and sekreto to sucees ng philippine team. Physical play and gulang. tutal yun naman ang style ng officiating ng mga referees sa international play, gulang, paturo kayo kay jawo. paano nakaklusot mga gulang nya sa court. foul hard, maging ala tubid sa defensa, makulit at huwag tantanan, make them loose there focus on the play. yun lang the end.

hello, sir chino...
we filipinos have been playing basketball for a very long time... i myself is a player... very big factor in wining is the skill, speed, stamina, strength, and heart... kami ng mga pinsan ko have battle it out with much taller, younger, faster opponents... and what gives us the win is our determination, discipline, and skill... we use what we have... ako i stand at 5'7 ung isa kong cousin stand at much smaller frame at 5'5...kami ang forward namin sa team...ung center namin stands the same height as me... but we stilkl do get the ball kahit na puro 6' footer kalaban... what do we do? we play as a team.... we play like one unit... boxout ako, talon sila... there are times na hindi namin kaya makipagsabayan sa ilalim dahil sa height... so what we do is go out... defense down on the floor... get the hussle... get the steal and get some points... we cant get near the basket? we pour jumpshots after jumpshots... yup we do lose at times pero mas madali kami panalo. we have to use what we have to our advantage... and our pro-ballers should start looking at their gameplay... sorry to say pero parang tama ung sabi nung isa... mejo naiiwan na ang laro natin that our por-ballers may not even have a chance against an NCAA team in the US... am not saying we look up to the americans... what am saying is we need to improve... our players should improve more... isipin mo na nga lang sa PBA pag may imports... isang foreign player nga lang e nadodominate na ang game paano pa pag all-foreign na, db? this situation should make us all see where and what should be improved more. mabuhay RP National Team... hindi nman na kailangan ng imports. wala ba tayong Itlog? takot ba? simple lng naman eh. edi more playing times sa ibang bansa pra mas macatch up natin ung nawawalan ng gana sa PBA

But i suggest a 69 position will help all our players from being irrisponsible father...if only 69 no additional dog style, bat style,101 style or what so ever that produce babies on the wrong time. My favorites if only for satisfaction i suggest a 69 style is the most fair, safety and risk free sports to play,Do you agree? Good afternoon Chino T.
I still believe that the RP Team needs EJ Feihl at the center. Both Taulava and Pennisi are old and can't really play 20 minutes straight each. Feihl can provide 3 minutes each at the 3rd and 4th quarter periods to allow the other two to recover. It is laughable that foolish fans still insist that the likes of ildefonso etal can be made useful for national team purposes. If the RP team can't win a major international tournament with the first ten players it has right now, it can never win with another ten. The best Filipino players who are virtually all below 6'6" can never beat the top ten teams which all have 6'9" to 7'2" players who are young, quick, strong and score inside and outside very well. Any Filipino team without Asi, Mick and EJ are plus 70 against the better teams. You need the three to slow down the inside scoring threats and hope the remaining Filipino runts -- yes, that is what they really are -- come out big in outside shooting. Besides, there is nothing to lose in putting EJ there anymore.

Mr. Anonymoous(cnu k man), are you kidding? putting EJ Feil as a back up center in NT? This is an International Competition, kw nrin ngsabi na malalaki and mabibilis yun player from other country especially china.EJ a 7 footer pero wala sya ability to run up and down the court.mabagal sya kumilos.he is not a good defender and not a good scorer.gamitan lng yan ng pick n roll, then wala na sya..i've rather to put Sonny Thoss or yancy de ocampo than your EJ Feihl..Sonny Thoss stand 6 foot 9 he's quick, good defender and a good inside scorer..And Yancy De Ocampo also a 6 foot 9, he can defend and hi strength his outside shooting.yancy can attract his defender away the basket bcoz of his outside offense. So meron chance na maka-score yun postplayer(NT) inside the basket..Well cgro mas maganda kung kunin nlng c EJ Feihl as their consultant, bka kc alam nya yun mga WEAKNESSES ng mga BigMAn standing 6 foot 9 up to 7 footer(like him).makakatulong yun suggestion nya on how to defend a Goliath?..

No offense on you annoymous. EJ feihl is a gud example of how the PBA has daveloped him as a professional player. If only PBa should come into realization, then maybe EJ feihl can be a part of the RP team, however, it will not happen and more EJ feihl players will be waisted and be just a player to be remember just a player....sad di ba? We have to rely on foriegn blood to save our face in front of foreign competitors... wat a shame... No offense to Fil ams also, but They have to prove they are worth playing for our country and be a true filipino. To coach chot, I suggest you focus on the solution to solve a problem not focus on the problem only to get empty handed and not solve the solution.
Lastly, We hope that wat ever the outcome of this rp team journey, sana tuloy tuloy na ang training for the Rp team contingent, not waist another EJ feihl players.

I salute to all the filipino basketball players who gave their best for the honor of our country. It is just that our good is not enough. Maybe we can induce the MANNY PACQUIAO spirit in basketball game. all out war attitude of playing basketball...

Hi chino,
It is really a growing pains for us pinoy. Basketball itself is like our country the philippines. A long time ago we are very well known country in this part of asia, but as years went by we are now a third world country and most corrupt in asia, well known pa rin but on the bad side na. Sa basketball din , ganun din, we are well known as one of the team to beat in asia a long time ago, thru the years, we have been left behind and suspended pa. In someway mi similarity di ba? mi common denominator. CORRUPTION. yun lang. the only way to be included in the history of the philippines sa larangan ng sport basketball is to be patriotic, a true blooded filipino. example, in boxing Manny pacquaio, flash elorde, espinosa is a true pinoy heroes, sa track and field we have elma murosa and lydia de vega, swimming eric buhain, and many more. These people I mentioned have a true heart of pinoy who will give their very best just to succeed and be proud of our country. they will never and will never fail us, because they have the will and the heart to fight, that is why they are called champions and heroes of our sports. They are part of history. Dont Let the pain remains forever in our hearts.

One good suggestion is to let players from the PBL reinforce the national team since they're more well-versed with the international rules that are also being used in the PBL.
Let's also allow the upcoming PBL rookies from the draft to also join coach Chot's national pool since they can shift from the PBA to the international rules quite easily. guys peace tayo!

chino, i suggest that coach chot use the biorhythm method in fielding his players in game. This is very scientific. Dont you notice why even superstar players have their off nights? That because their physical biorhythm was low. I used to apply it on my players while i was still coaching a team in batangas, and believe me it works. By using this method coach chot will know who are the players that will deliver for him in a particular game.

RP team gets tough draw in Fiba-Asia
by Benny Lirio - Jun 6, 2007 THE SAN Miguel-RP squad will face a tough challenge in their quest to earn a slot to the 2008 Beijing Olympics as the team got drawn in the tough Group B in the 24th Fiba Asia Men's Championship in Tokushima, Japan from July 28 to August 5. The Philippines squad is grouped with host Japan, Qatar and Syria following the draw of lots held in Tokushima yesterday. THE SAN Miguel-RP squad will face a tough challenge in their quest to earn a slot to the 2008 Beijing Olympics as the team got drawn in the tough Group B in the 24th Fiba Asia Men's Championship in Tokushima, Japan from July 28 to August 5. The Philippines squad is grouped with host Japan, Qatar and Syria following the draw of lots held in Tokushima yesterday. The Southeast Asia top qualifier was represented by the newly-appointed SBP-BAP executive director Patrick Gregorio. Last May, the National squad suffered tough beatings from Syrian representatives in the 17th Fiba Asia Champions Cup in Iran. During the elimination round, the import-laden Al Jalaa Aleppo of Syria handed SMC-RP an 80-114 beating, which was duplicated by a 77-109 drubbing during the semifinal round. Qatar also did their share of whipping the Filipino warriors as its Al Rayaan ball club scored a 75-95 victory in their game for third place. But without any import, the Philippines is looking forward to a very competitive game against any of their tormentors. Host China has a huge edge to advance to the quarterfinal round after they were bracketed in Group C together with Taiwan, Kazakhstan and Hong Kong. Lebanon, Jordan, India and another Southeast Asian team Indonesia is in Group A. Group D teams include South Korea, Iran, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. Two teams in each bracket will advance to the crossover quarterfinal round. The teams will play knockout games from the quarterfinals onwards. (RCM) GO SMC-RP TEAM PILIPINAS!!!! GOOD LUCK!!!!

As a result, hindi 100% ang laro nila. They earn millions as PBA players, i don't think they would risk that carrer for some patriotic duties. Ganyan na rin ang nagyayari sa US Team, mga NBA players di rin naglalaro to their full potential. They don't want to risk injury and ruin their careers.

Dear Coach Chot Reyes,
Naniniwala akong magaling kang coach. Ang China dapat makalaban muna ng RP Team sa isang tune-up game sa Manila before the FIBA-Asian Championship on July 28. Please set the mind of our players and coaching staff na makakalusot tayo sa elimination round ng Group A. TEAMWORK, UNITY, TAPANG, LAKAS NG LOOB and PREPARATION. YAN ANG FORMULA PARA TAYO MANALO. Let us all pray for the best of our Philippine Basketball Team this coming FIBA-Asian Championship on July 28, 2007.

Coach Chot,
Here is my suggestions and opinions. With the braket we are into. I think it is high time to seek the help of coach ron jacob, jaworski and Caloy loyzaga. They are the experts and have much experienced in this field. It may sound oldies but they are the proven guys on basketball. Well in fact they are called veteran. In your line up there is no true veteran and leader on the team. We hope by this means you will listen to us. We are the one thinking out of the box coach. gud luck sayo. coach chot,
we believe in you and on our team.. kayang kaya ng pinas yan.. i admit nasa "group of death" tayo at aminin nating totoo yan.. not to say para manghina ang loob ng players and even fans out there, but ito talaga ang totoo.. kaya dapat pagsikapan pa at gawing motivation ang "group of death" n yan. we really believe we can beat iran and jordan.. i know bibigyan ng magandang laban ng pinas ang china.. about sa mga comments ng iba about new and your players na gustong isama sa roster... eh mukang maganda yan pero not this time, wala ng time para mabuo ang mgandang teamwork, just believe on our coach and lastly to us fans eh.. "support" and "pray".

i agree on MTL, soccer will never be a fav sports of pinoys, even asian countries walang binatbat sa soccer, hindi para satin un, kaw nalng magsoccer jurg
