My good friend John Nery over at the Philippine Daily Inquirer made an interesting point in his column the other day (in which he also chided me for pointing out that Joma Sison has been fulminating against the US capitalist system and has repeatedly warned that one day soon the US financial system will collapse).
According to John, the true secret of capitalism – a secret that he said Marx and, by implication, communists and leftist activists are completely clueless about – is its capacity for self-improvement and regeneration. Being a struggling capitalist myself, I would love to see that happen in the wake of the US financial crisis. But that can only happen if Wall Street collapsed. Self-improvement and regeneration can only take place in this instance if there's a total annihilation of the US financial system, which evidently is rotten to the core. Only then can we truly assess whether the capitalism's "true secret" can actually work. But the Bush administration, as you by now know, stepped in and prevented what would have been the inevitable consequence of capitalist greed – Wall Street's collapse, out of which regeneration and self-improvement could emerge. And now, there's the $700 billion bailout being proposed by the US Treasury Department and the Federal Reserve, which seeks to avert further damage to Wall Street. If that plan gets the nod of the US Congress, capitalism lives another day. And we will have been deprived of a chance to prove if John's capitalist gospel – sorry, bay, can't help it – has got legs to stand on in this case. * The secret of capitalism is its capacity to suck people dry. This is the doctrine that allowed the meltdown on Wall Street to happen in the first place. And this is the same doctrine that is behind the bailout plan. Under the plan, the Bush administration will be given a blank check to buy whatever it wants from all the junk that are clogging Wall Street. Perhaps we cannot quibble, at this point, on the necessity of such a plan. Wall Street has just suffered a stroke and there's a need to rid its arteries of all the bad debts that are choking it. But the bailout plan, and here is the rub, demands that Americans completely entrust $700 billion of their tax money to US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson Jr. – the same guy whose department's inaction and incompetence were responsible for Wall Street's worst crash since the Great Depression in the '20s. (Paulson, by the way, is a product of Wall Street.) Paulson's plan has nothing by way of ensuring accountability and oversight and putting in place tighter regulations. In essence, the plan is like this: the same people – the American public – who were screwed by Wall Street are the same ones who are now forking over money to save the neck of the one that screwed them. Neat, huh? Worse, the American public won't even get anything in return (like stocks in those troubled companies, like the Swedes did in the 1990s). They also won't have a say in how to go about this rescuing or in making sure that Paulson's friends – those overpaid CEOs -- and Treasury officials like him will pay for their crimes and incompetence the next time something like this happens again. (And without legislative and judicial oversight and tighter regulations, this, mark my word, will happen again.) The true secret of capitalism is screwing people and getting away with it. Carlos H. Conde is a journalist based in Manila. Trackbacks

Don't you think it is also happening in our Pilipinas kong mahal, like the over paid CEO's of GSIS and SSS and the government as a whole just to cite some example. That whenever the funds run dry they will just suck more blood from their contributors and constituents rather than reduce their perks and salaries and they will surely get off the hook.
I tell you that this is what happens when money for homes is "given" to all people regardless of their character or intention and ability to repay...... on the democratic principle that all are equal and worthy regardless of any prejudice (the poor) admirable intention. But Unrealistic social policy.... Greed on both sides to get the easy buck... now costs everyone! Still this was only a small percentage of all loans.... Now you tell me to whom will you trust to lend YOUR money... and trust to repay you!! then you will understand... Everyone will get paid. You are free to donate all your money to the poor and follow Jesus... if the communist allow you..
Over paid executives are as much a part of private corporations as it is in the public agencies.
It would really be foolish to think that the main incentive use by privates companies (read: pay) would not be the case for public agencies. So, really, the only over paid executive is the one that does not perform and performance is defined by the board or in SSS's and GSIS's case, its the president. Theoretically, you can't put a ceiling on executive compensation. Let us not blame capitalism on this issue. On the contrary, let's blame the Government that intervenes with free market.
The US Federal Government should just let their companies fail and be bankrupt when they overdo their greed. It's greed that got them. Let them peril with it. No golden parachutes, no soft landing. Let them fail! With failure comes the lessons that they'll learn -- that greed has its limits. Bailing out losing companies will just reward greed and mediocracy. After they hit the bottom hard, capitalists will tend to learn from the past mistakes, that when they overdo their greed, they'll perish. I really don't believe we can blame this financial fiasco on government intervention. It seems there wasn't the appropriate governmental interventions in the first place that would have curtailed all the ridiculous subprime lending. These huge investment banks really screwed themselves in the midst of a free market that's sent them on a free fall.
Now, the republicans' worst nightmare is happening: a GINORMOUS federal bailout with its roots in greed. Seems the free market isn't so free after all and there's a huge price to pay. $700B would pay for a lot of health care insurance, post-war services for our vets, social services, improving infrastructure like highways, education, ad infinitim. Sad. It's all really sad. the US gov't can't just alow that to happen. they are afraid what al qaeda announce a few days before 9 11 might be true and that would boost bin laden.
The US government only planned to intervene, that is since Reagan as president, because they cannot hide the fact that free market liberalism is a failure economic program. Before, they stuck it on Reagan's deregulate, deregulate, deregulate (which in turn becomes deregulate, liberalize, and privatize) policy on economics which is now proven as a fatal and common capitalist meltdown tendencies. fyi only...
Capitalism has many weaknesses but there is no other alternative.
Communism? Please don't make me laugh. so are you proposing an alternative? or are you just pointing out one of the pitfalls of unbridled capitalism? Greed is what caused all of this, from the investment banks, mortgage lenders, to the gullible borrowers (who know they do not have the capacity to pay). From my understanding of human nature and societal norms, greed can be present in everyone; capitalists, communists, socialists, bleeding heart liberals, f*ck even your average tree huggers. Paulson was only following what Wolfowitz, Greenspan, Rubin et.al was preaching since the early 90's.
this money things situation could really drive you nuts just trying to understand the ins and outs. but i come upon one book way back in the 80's that explain everything in this bussiness that simply explain how these individuals are manipulating the world economy at their whims and personal gain at the expense of the working class. the name of the book:
THE GODS OF EDEN by William Bramley check thisout and it wil give you the surprise of your life. this things have been going on since the 14th century. 3jy "The true secret of capitalism is screwing people and getting away with it. "
Yeah!,roll down the red carpet and lets welcome state regulations, cmon don't be so naive, we(you) benefited it anyway. "...repeatedly warned that one day soon the US financial system will collapse" no substance at all, anybody can say this, the real question is when?, even i can say that china's financial system will collapse, but when, no need for special talents..this is called common sense the maxin goes something like this: "given enough time any predition will come true"
for that reason i dont buy stocks...coz i dont know anything bout it!!!!
I like what president Sarkozy of france said over at the UN: "We must have a regulated capitalism. And the role of banks must be to finance development, not to fuel speculations."
yeah ur ryt LRM,anybody or anyone can say that,no nid to patronized those communist specially Joma sison, one of the feeling rich and powerful in the expense of others..anyway,guys did you know that maybe this US financial crisis is a way of controlling private companies by the bush administrtion?they are sucking out billions of money for the benefit of those who are responsible for their collapse..what a pitty...oh well same things happen here!why look at them when you can look here in the philippines..whwre everything impossible happens...while our country men suffers those in the palace are living in extravagant lifestyle..those who are honest in the goverment are being replace by incompetent, liar, corrupt,MAGNANANAKAW by the no.1 seller no other than the proxy president gloria...yeah no.1 seller bcos she sells the philippines, she sells them fast, she sells the system of goverment to her cronies and dogs,haaaay... what can we do to stop this bad leaders...anyway,anyhow life must go on...capitalism wll never die..we are lucky, imagine if we are not a capitalist country????
mrs. gloria.....why put hoodlums, liars, incompetent, killers, corrupt in your system of goverment??? are you one of them???? Chavit ginawang security adviser??? is he fit for the job like your other incompetent dogs??? truly is.. great things comes in SMALL packages.
you know why she made chavit as security adviser because what i know about chavit is that he is using old peoples like 70 years & above and children like 10 years below as his spy so he can do any illegal work para hindi halata. Thats why she choose chavit over the more qualified people.
Capitalism is always been a scheme to get other peoples money. The $700 billion bail out is another scheme by an ex investment banker Paulson who has a lot of friend in Wall Street. The bailout will not save the world but will save the CEO who started the failed mortgage scheme.
Communism is also a scheme to enslave the worker. I'd rather join the Amish. Consider that it is PEOPLE who always want to get the others money! you know this is true.. even the poor want the riches... Rather than judge lets try to make a better system... the greedy we will always have with us.. (its human nature) I vote for Sarkozy! Amish is good ideal but i bet they too have all the same politics and problems only they eat GOOD
Parang bugaw lang naman kasi ang papel ng gubyerno ni Gloria sa labor ng pilipinas. walang papel si gloria sa ganito. it's free market capitalism that brought outsourcing to our country. it's benefiting a lot of people (including myself).
walang masama sa sistemang may mga iilang labis na makikinabang. basta mapprotektahan ang karapatan ng mga manggagawa. Admit it, the society needs big capitalists such as Gokongwei and Henry Sy. That's just how it should go. Some people will be successful in life and some will just be contented with what they have. But we should all be sure that they do not abuse their success over other people. Capitalism brought us technologies unimaginable in just over a century such as Cellphone and Internet. Capitalism made it possible to build huge structures such as PBCom Tower and Mall of Asia. We need capitalism and capitalists to drive it in the right path. capitalism per se is not the problem. the problem lies on the people, those overpaid CEOs who run the show. wall street may be on the brink of total collapse right now, but i'm gonna bet my bottom peso, these financial demi-gods have secured their fortunes on air-tight accounts and thus, shall remain worry-free about their future come what may.
capitalism makes us what we are enjoying today, our absolute freedom to enterprises down to a good life. capitalism is like a game, you need to have a good shot else you would end up a looser, but it's a free world anyways and you could still turn the table back. ceo's were also laborer before, they just had patience and shot to make things worked. greed is part of the game, as what bill gates sees, "The world is unfair, get used to it", is truly the capitalist world. wait until you become a CEO and you would tell to yourself that you're not greedy co'z you've been helping others for a living by the job that you provide. Also if you're a CEO, would you give them (laborers) half of of your profits, of course not - just only a piece, else you would loose you're long term investment/capital.
To the employee, let's go back to the saying that, fall in love to your job never to the company, cause you don't know when will it stops loving you. It's a free market - the higher the dough, then the more will follow. Lesson learned, always be practical and wise in the capitalist world. Its very simple...... CASINO TIME....something to lose...and gain...
the"true secret" of capitalish is greediness and desires to be rich by fooling and enslaving people,it does provide jobs for the people, though workers merely get the little percentages the company makes...and for the vast money the company makes,it can create another investment site somewhere to enslave and fooled people again. Why many of OFW benefits from those capitalist as well as our gov´t because it provides them jobs and brought easy money to gov´t officials to enrich themselves without working hard.Kailangan natin ng kapitalista kung walang mamumuhunan walang trabaho para sa mga jobless kahit na ang dulot nito minsan ay pangloloko sa mamamayan.
Many of capitalist, they brought money to countries coffer but dried-up RP´s natural resources, enslaved the filipino people,at the end filipinos were only used to fulfilled their dreams, enrich themselves more and becomes more powerful. It´s good to be a capitalist than becomes a laborer to enrich them more. dear good readers.... watch this documentary in youtube.. i truly suggest this... hapy watching...
The Money Masters - How Bankers Gained Control of America Prepare for a bigger surprise. The Federal Reserve has a huge trick under its sleeve. Remember what happened in the Panic of 1907 - when they were created, plus the 1920's turmoil. The worst is yet to come. They are propagating fear to the public in order to 'legally' slip-in their hedious agenda. The 700bn bail out is just the first step of action to take control of the supposed "free market." Once they have the control, they will be very resistant-free to roll out their plans. One of which, the Amero, part of their ultimate plan. And it's coming, the new world. Nobody can stop them. No one.
mga frends watch niyo nmn to s youtube...9/11 Coincidences (maraming part to ha) wala lang just want you guys to see how bush government pre- plan everything to change the world... thank you guys!
People have become smart and hippocrites nowadays. You wouldn't be reading this post and surfing the internet without capitalism.
I observe that people also become super-imaginative about the on-going US economic crisis. Driven by their anti-US stance, they cook up conspiracies blaming the entire system as the culprit when it could be the fault of the CEOs. Let's be objective guys and discreet in our judgment. Maybe capitalism has its faults; but there's always a price to pay, especially when we are enjoying the freedom we have now owing to capitalism.
don`t blame the system. it is only as good as the people running them.
the problem with capitalism today is that business and corporations have grown so big. now, they are "regulating" the government and not the other way around. My old teacher told me that in capitalism you are free to be an innovative and artistic para maging successful, kumbaga nasa diskarte na lng yan....sa communism para kang remote controlled na laruan pwera na lng kung marami kang goons and guns...
the fall down of US is just the beggining of capitalisms meltdown, capitalism was at it's peak and what ever goes up it goes down. And we know someday the whole system will change we just dont know when. We must always look at our history because history repeat itself.
I think... What happens to wall street is just an evolution of what capitalism is. In order to adapt to the situation of today's globalization capitalism is also making its way to be comfortable with the situation. I know America can survive this one also the way they did when great depression almost crushed them.
even if we turn the world upside down no one can get rid of capitalism..... in the philippines.... well.... sad to say.... but its claws has been deeply rooted in our system....
Financial Crisis, is done by the people around the White House, American politics is very "dirty"..... in my opinion, I will not bail out the Wall Street.. then we will see the results. Why not try..? it is just like trial and error...
Capitalism has been reinventing itself since the mid-80s. The current financial crisis is an eventual outcome of one of the three "escape routes," as Walden Bello puts it, of Capitalism due to the overproduction. Prof. Bello, by the way, has made a brief but informative primer on the Wall Street Meltdown. You should read it at the Freedom from Debt Coalition website (www.fdc.ph).
Capitalism is the cause of Communist China's problem with its Dairy products. Where 50,000 innocent kids are the victim of uncontrolled greed of the communist capitalist. This is the worst combination - a communist, like JOMA, who cares nothing but for communist which is no longer relevant and a capitalist in China, where corruption is prevalent in every form of government and dealings.
Carlos Honde,
What the hell are you talking about? Tell us something we don't know instead of cherry picking from the news and hearsays about Wall St. Middle class should also be blamed for they rode in this subprime fad to borrow money that they're not even entitled to. Simply because they agreed to forge info about their financial status in order to get approval for housing loans. Banks have no ways of verifying the actual debt-to-income ratio because most papers submitted by borrowers and brokers were fake. It's a conniving and manipulative work of borrowers and brokers to steal money from banks. Such borrowers with high credit scores do not necessarily mean they qualified. But to support their claim that they have the ability to pay, they produced fake paystubs, fake W2 form income tax returns, fake IRA statements and what not. So please Carlos, you're in no position to fully blame Wall St. for what is happening to our market here in the States. I'll leave it at that. Kung matalino ka, hindi ka na maghahanap ng paliwanag. It's simply human greed. Everybody wanted a piece of the pie. "Everybody wanted a piece of the pie."
but it seems everybody wants the whole pie..hehehe..Greedy. ...And to add another point, please don't credit Joma for predicting the financial crisis. Why would you agree with a communist who never once agreed with the government and democracy?
It's a cycle. Almost every 12-16 years this cycle repeats itself in the US economy. Whether it's housing, credit crisis, Wall St. tumbling, etc. This crisis, once it's over will happen again. It was just a matter of time when things will bottom down. Mark my word, housing bottom will be mid 2009. But housing will stay flat for another 10 years before heading to another housing boom. Don't knock capitalism...it's what makes it possible for you to get your pieces published, in print or in cyberspace. Otherwise you'd just be the neighborhood town crier, Mr. Conde.
Long live capitalism! so it's just okay for you if there are millions suffering from hunger and poverty, no homes, no access to universal health, and our environment raped that causes global warming?
think! greed!!!!!!this is america's downfall. why do american media call this a "world financial crisis"..ask the developing and poor countries, they have no idea what this crisis is...the self righteous americans have been caught in this crisis w/ their pants down....what goes around comes around...karma....
I just want to share these to you all regarding the present financial crisis in the USA. Please see this site and read it carefully: http://www.albertmohler.com/blog_read.php?id=2550
thanks for giving us a clearer picture of the rottenness of capitalism.
Much as i would like to rejoice on the fact that capitalism is again in the brink of inevitable self destruction, it's terrifying to know that I am living in a third world country that is at the mercy of capitalists. Sabi nga, "Pag sinisipon ang US, ta-trangkasuhin ang Pilipinas". When the US economy wobbles, what comes next will be company closures, investment pullouts of BPOs, and consequently unemployment. Otherwise, capitalists will still continue to seek the cheap labor in the Philippines but for a much cheaper price. The only way now is to remove the Philippines from the control of monopoly capitalists and fight for a truly industrialized, self-reliant economy. And yes, socialism is key to solving this problem. No matter who has the Power or what system you will find greed...... We all must hang together or... we all surely will Hang! Got MILK
i agree with Randy, the Phils. must have a self-reliant economy, but we were already too late for that. We lost our eco. momentum back then, once there was a time when our neighboring countries envy us for our economic status.
How can we be Independent,Eh alam naman natin na Kapit tuko ang bansa natin...Ay,hindi pala...Yung Gobyerno lang pala natin,Sa mga kano?
i wish google chrome and firefox has "idiot comments filter". reading replies would be a lot nicer. he he
Sa wakas, me ganitong komento! Salamat! Daming bobo sa internet, laluna yung mga nagtatanggol dito sa kapitalismo, tapos di naman marunong mag-Ingles. Ansakit sa ulo basahin:
"Capitalism is the cause of Communist China's problem with its Dairy products..." "Middle class should also be blamed for they rode in this subprime fad to borrow money that they're not even entitled to..." "No matter who has the Power or what system you will find greed...... We all must hang together or... we all surely will Hang..." The Principles of Capitalism states that The Government should NOT enter any transactions Done by the Capitalists,Nor Control them....That is why I'm againts that Bailout plan....
Those Capitalists should resolve their own Problems,That's the fruit of Their own principle. TO JOSE:
What is wrong with this sentence? "Middle class should also be blamed for they rode in this subprime fad to borrow money that they're not even entitled to.." There's nothing wrong with it. Dumb ass! I don't think you understand the reasons behind this statement. Fuck you! If I were to give you a choice between the employee or the employer, please don't tell me you won't embrace idea of "nagpapasweldo vs. sinuswelduhan" or, you'd be the "nagpapautang vs. nang-uutang". You'd rather the capitalist. Don't be a fuckin' hypocrite! Take out all things that "capitalists" developed that made our lives easier, I don't think you'd like it. You're a hypocrite! "all things that "capitalists" developed that made our lives easier"...
easier? or made our lives complicated? The result that we are seeing right now is an increasing inequality. Tama si Carlos "The true secret of capitalism is screwing people". Why the heck are you using the internet?
Go and hide in North Korea. Nabubusog mo ba sikmura mo sa internet? hindi yan ang kailangan ng nakararami. Capitalist developed this "Internet" for their own good. nakikisingit lang tayo at nagbabayad. Dalawang klase lang ng tao meron dito sa mundo ang "ang walang kabusugang na-nga-ngapital at mga gutom na alipin".
as a matter of fact YES. because I work for a web company and thousands of others.
if you don't understand what Internet brought us... it's just taken Democracy into greater heights.
sa Internet, mababasa mo at mailalathala lahat ng iyong opinion. nandito ka at naririnig mula sa aking office dahil sa internet. If you don't appreciate what a technology brought to you then you don't have to use it.

Democracy? haha..ur funny. bulag ka ba? bingi ka ba? The freedom(democracy) to oppress, to slave is clearly at greater heights, ever since the capitalist has taken control of the govt. Mga paimbabaw na tao!

WHAT THE F*CK?
READ you idiot. none of what freedom you have now can be achieved in any Communist regime. Good point JVillarante-
I don't understand why people pretend they don't appreciate capitalism. Watching TV, music, using your cell phone, entertainment, etc. To JUN, having been used to living using cellphones made our lives way easier. Especially when getting in touch with loved ones. So I dare you, itapon mo yan lintik na telepono mo, ipamigay mo tv nyo at mamuhay ka sa kagubatan by way of fishing and hunting. Try this for 1 week. Then come back to me whether or not you appreciate capitalism as a whole. Yung mga galit sa kapitalismo ay mga taong makikititid ang utak dahil isinisisi nyo kung bakit mas hirap kayo sa buhay at bakit mas magaan at maalwan ang buhay ng iba. You make your own destiny. Don't blame capitalism kung hindi mo ma-experience ang buhay meron ang mayayaman. This argument however does not pertain to corrupt politicians and monopolists ha. Equal competetion should always be there. Corruption and capitalism are two different things. Let me just make that clear. Capitalism breeds wealth and poverty, not equality. Ang pagkaka-alam ng nakararami, we were all created equal, but in reality, for one to have more, another must have less. So, it's obvious "Equality" does not fit into the equation. Ang principle ng capitalism "competition"(mas-malala pa nga kc mas common na ngayun unfair-competition pa), which actually turns us all against each other, and this is contradictory to "cooperation", which is the basis for socialism. Perhaps a Democratic-socialist system would be the answer.
Ok, i accept that. J.Vill and Ambol. ano ba primary objective ng mga capitalist kaya nagkaroon nyan? Of course, profit, for a faster transaction within the business community. The Bible clearly teaches that the worker/laborer is worthy of his hire and that rewards should follow labor. Salamat sa inyong mga hinayupak na kapitalista! Jun,
I think capitalism, more than anything else breeds livelihood. I think it maybe hard for someone to understand this especially if they don't feel the equality I'm trying to point out. Mahirap nga 'to dahil sa Pilipinas, walang equality. There's palakasan, who you know instead of what you know. So mas mahirap ngang maintindihan ng nasa Pilipinas ang sinasabi ko. But for those who lived both in Phils and US or other countries where discrimination is never tolerated, I think iba ang take up nya sa argument. Kasi, nakikita namin ang best and worst of both worlds. May comparison kumbaga. People who were killed fighting for their rights didn't die in vain. So, let's set that aside 'no. To counter with your agrument, I disagree na mas marami ang ginutom at pinatay ng kapitalismo. I think mas marami ang nakinabang. I'm not saying that killing is acceptable coz it's not and my heart grieves for those who lost families/friends. However, if such killings happened, I don't think it's "kapitalimo's" fault as a whole. Maybe to blame are those landlords. Ang pagiging "ganid, suwapang, lahat na". Not necessarily capitalism but the mentality of the person dahil hindi lahat ng nagpasimuno ng kapitalismo at mamamatay tayo. Capitalism is good. Greed is good to a certain extent only. But if greed becomes overbearing for a landlord to have people killed, then blame it on that landlord. At pag ganito, I don't think it's just greed. But greed for POWER. I just simply think capitalism promotes livelihood and not violence. But what drives violence is POWER and FEAR OF LOSING CONTROL. Jun, wouldn't you agree that we as human beings always want control? It's our nature. Control we must have. Kahit ikaw, ayaw mo ng mawalan ng control diba? So, let me ask you Jun. Kung hindi layaw ang gusto mo at simpleng buhay lang ang inaasam mo, then what is it that will make you happy? Capitalism set aside. Equal competetion should always be there. Corruption and capitalism are two different things."
-sabi mo lang yan. The wealthy capitalist is the root of all this mess, controlling and dictating the govt. para bang kahapon ka lang pina-nganak o nag-bubulag-bulagan ka lang. Tan, Sy, Cojuangco, Ayala, marami pa..these are the Monopolists & the Corrupt! You can't be a successful capitalist if you are playing fair. kailangan; matakaw ka, ganid at walang malasakit sa kapwa.tsk..tsk..sad but true. Correction.
"...hindi lahat ng nagpasimuno ng kapitalismo ay mamamatay tao..." Jun, please read above comment. Thanks. "Tan, Sy, Cojuangco, Ayala, marami pa..these are the Monopolists & the Corrupt! You can't be a successful capitalist if you are playing fair. kailangan; matakaw ka, ganid at walang malasakit sa kapwa"
Not true. Bill Gates and Warren Buffet played fair. Founder of Apple Steve Jobs, Ebay's Pierre Omidyar, Yahoo's Jerry Yang, HP's David Packard and William Hewlett played fair. And the lists go on!!! Gates and Buffet are the 2 richest men in the world. At hindi ganid because when they die, their wealth will go to charities around the world. Nasa living will na nila yon. I think your perception is only based sa pilipinas. TSK, TSK, TSK ALSO. But your concept of capitalism is only based upon your experiences in Manila. SAD BUT TRUE JUN. Sorry but you have to expand outside our country. To JUN:
please refer to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_income_equality Capitalism doesn't necessarily bring inequality. Communism or any economic system doesn't guarantee equality. It's more than just the economic system. Capitalism just makes use of the axiom that a rational individual aims to prosper. But in all society, not every individual are rational. So it would be a fact in Capitalism, that those rational individuals would take the lead in the society. It doesn't necessarily mean the rich are evil, it just means they are rational. What made this system work is that everyone can be a Capitalist. All it takes is a little hard work. Ok thanks, Mr. Ambol & J.Villarante. That's why i'm doing my best as a working student, that someday ma-experience ko ang buhay na sinasabi nyo. Cguro nga minalas lang pamilya ko sa mapang-abusong kapitalista. We worked there, very very hard @P190./day. inutang pa nila ang buhay ng magulang at kapatid ko.
Jun,
My comments were written NOT to judge you or put you down. But were written bluntly to prove a point. I'm sorry for your loss and I wish that someday, you will find peace in your heart and justice for your parents and sibling. Just work hard and never stop looking for opportunities. In God's little ways, you'll find returns without you even realizing it. Like you, I worked my way up as a working student to become a nurse here in the US. And just like you, I had many, many struggles. But I didn't blame anybody for that kind of living. I just worked and studied hard. Nothing in life is easy. Accept the fact now that wealth will not be handed to you. You must work for it. So continue what you're doing, use your parents and sibling as inspirations to finish school so that when you start your own family, their lives will be better provided by you. Good luck! I am confused. This isn't the secret of capitalism. Capital is savings, so why are they spending 700 billion? That is consuming, not saving. Capitalism is only on part of a market.
Right now, we have a regulated market that consumes too much and avoides recessions constantly. The consumer has no savings to consume anymore. It think the word the represents the consumer aspect of the market is the socialists. Regulated market favours the socialists/consumers and a free-market favours the capitalist/producer.
